Windows 10: Windows freezing problems

About two months ago, my Windows 10 started freezing. It is freezing on a fairly irregular basis, sometimes going days without any problem while other times freezing instantly every time when I start the computer. In some situations, the freezes are more likely to happen, e.g., when I try to restart it, when I put it into sleep mode, when I click the button to turn off Bluetooth etc. But not always. And often it happens randomly, with the computer doing nothing.


I have a dual boot setup with Linux operating system which I assume should not be the cause of a problem since it had been working flawlessly for a long time. Linux operating system does not experience such problems, therefore I assume that the problem does not lie in the hardware. I also tried to monitor the cpu temperature and it does not seem extraordinary.


The problems first appeared together with windows update problems, where I could not manage to install Windows update. I tried many things but eventually fixed it by restoring the system. I tried restoring Windows always with keeping my files a few times already and now it seems to be updated, but the freezing problems persist.


In the device manager, none of the devices show any errors exclamation marks. I used some software to try updating the drivers Lenovo vantage, DriverBooster, DriverPack but it did not cure the problem.

I am appending a log of administrative events from the Event Viewer application. Unfortunately, it mostly does not show any errors at the exact moment of crash. The critical errors probably correspond to me turning the computer off by force. There was one instance when the events closely coincided with the crash might have been a coincidence? The events were:


the winlgon notification subscriber <GP Client> was unavailable to handle a notification event

the driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1903&SUBSYS_380817AA&REV_0C\3&11583659&1&20. Source Kernel-PnP

the driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for device ROOT\SYSTEM\0001.


I am not sure what exactly this means and whether it can give me any clues to what the problem may be. I uploaded the rest of the event log to dropbox.

Windows Vista Wont Install Freezes?

had the same problem, freezes and long installation including each step loading, in my case a bios update helped.

 

all games crash!

ive watch my temps and both the cpu and gpu are within normal ranges. when it freezes it simply freezes the image and stops the sound. i must reboot to get back to windows.

 

Windows 10 1709 System Restore problems...

That seems to be an attempt at Option 2 in the tutorial, which requires you to
a. Boot to a command prompt (Did you?)
b. You then seem to be mixing steps 3,4 and 5, thus your command is incorrect.

I suggest Option 1 is easier.
