Windows 10: Windows froze, then wouldn't boot, now frozen on install

My laptop is only a year old. I have avoided manually downloading and installing the Windows 10 update 2004 because big updates like this always caused my previous laptops to have problems. I don't know if the update was automatically installed.


Today, my laptop froze, so I did a hard power off by holding down the power button. When trying to start it again, it froze on the first screen that shows the Dell logo. I did a hard power off a couple more times since that kept happening, and it took me to the Automatic Repair. I tried the options for rolling back updates, which did not help. I chose the Reset My PC option, and now it's been stuck on "Installing Windows 3%" for over 3 hours and counting and the spinning dots stopped spinning. I don't have another PC to be able to use for the "boot media" solution I've seen proposed. Anyone have any other ideas?

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

 

Windows 10 install froze while rebooting

Hi

While installing Windows 10 from Windows 7 the following incurred:

• While rebooting it froze during the spinning dial, I waited 20 min then did a hard boot.
• Froze again at the same spot, I waited 2 min then did a hard reboot
• Might have frozen a third time, I can't remember
• On the next reboot, Windows reverted back to the old version. (Phew)
• Now when I hit the "Ok, lets continue" button on the Windows 10 upgrade app. I get the spinning wheel and the "Working on it" text but after a few seconds the app shuts down and nothing else happens.
  

Are there some files/folders that I need to delete from the previous attempt?

I just saw this laptop freeze this evening. It happened while my son was in Gmail and the laptop froze while he was typing. We left it frozen for quite a while but it didn't recover.

We did try the steps suggested on the below URL to regain control, but we ended up having to do a hard boot

I'm just wondering, since there was a recent freeze, are there any logs that we can refer to now that might suggest what caused it to lock up. If it is something as simple as a driver needed, that would might be easier to install than reimaging as Windows 7 and then upgrading to Windows 10.
