Windows 10: Windows functions not working

Several Windows 10 functions are not working for me. The problems seem to be related. Here are the ones I've observed so far. They are hard to explain.


1 I can't type in the search bar. Sometimes it will let me type a single character, but then I can't get the cursor to stay in the search bar. Instead. the single character brings up search results and one of the search results in the right column stays highlighted. I can use the arrow buttons to scroll up and down among the search results in the right column, but if I use the left arrow to try to access the search results in the left column, the search result in the left column becomes highlighted for an infinitesimally brief moment and then it's back in the right column.


2 The calculator doesn't work. I have it set on "Scientific." Let's say I click on "log," which is the leftmost button in its row, next to 1, 2, 3, and +. The log function is not activated when I click the button. Instead, the 1 button becomes briefly highlighted with a black square, then the 2 button about a 1/2 second later, then the 3 button, and then the + button which stays highlighted. The same thing happens if I click on any other non-rightmost button: the buttons to the right of it become highlighted sequentially, in order, coming to rest on the rightmost button. But none of the calculator functions are actually activated. Sometimes if I click really quickly and repeatedly on a button, I can get it to activate. But usually nothing.


3 Something similar happens when I open Windows Settings.

The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx
