Windows 10: Windows gives me the "we couldnt find another display." when trying to connect a second...

Hey, ive been trying to have an old tv as a second monitor, but it wont work. I use an AV to HDMI adapter and it sits fine in my gpu HDMI slot, and all the connections are fine. I've also tested the tv and the adapter on several other devices like my nintendo switch and old wii, and both the old AV tv works and the adapter does. I also have all the nessescary drivers installed for my gpu, and i've reinstalled them many times. I'd like to know why my PC wont detect another display and how to fix it. Thanks, Pizzaguy28

Returning Windows to Second Screen

Let's try to isolate the issue and see what is preventing you from using Windows to second screen. Kindly provide us the following information:

• When you turned on your computer, does it give you an extended display for both monitor screen and your laptop?
• Is your monitor screen already connected to your laptop before turning it on?
• What cable are you using to connect your second monitor to your laptop?
  
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried?

 

Cannot connect TV as second display

Have you tried updating the video card drivers? I suggest downloading IOBit Driver Booster and letting it update all the drivers in your system and see if that helps.

 

Windows Wireless Display Adapter-not connecting anymore

Hello Phillip,

Did you notice any changes on your PC prior to the issue? I suggest that you follow the steps outlined in this support article:
Troubleshooting Wireless Display Adapters.

Since updating drivers did not work, in addition, you can try to reset the Wireless Adapter.

1. On the adapter, press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds.
2. When the message " Ready to connect "shows, open the
   Action Center.
3. Select Connect, and in the list of displays, select
   Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter.
