Windows 10: Windows goes to blue screen error every time after waking

    Windows goes to blue screen error every time after waking


    So I have this strange issue that's started happening the past few weeks. I can pretty much reproduce it 100% of the time but I don't know whats causing it.

    Here is what usually happens:

    1. I'll finish using my computer and put it to sleep for the night
    2. I wake my computer the next day and it lets me log in and everything is as I left it
    3. If I open an application I just get a blank white window for it. In my example, I go to open firefox and it just hangs with a white screen
    4. After 2 or so minutes the computer crashes to a blue screen error

    The error on the blue screen states DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE

    I've checked the event viewer to see what was going on prior to the crash and here is the list of errors happening from the last time this has happened.

    1st EventError 2021-02-09 8:26:52 PM Application Hang 1002 (101)

    The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

    4th EventError 2021-02-09 8:28:38 PM EventLog 6008 None

    The previous system shutdown at 2:03:18 AM on ‎2021-‎02-‎09 was unexpected.

    5th EventError 2021-02-09 8:28:38 PM Eventlog 1101 Event processing

    Audit events have been dropped by the transport. 0

    6th EventError 2021-02-09 8:28:39 PM BugCheck 1001 None

    The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000009f (0x0000000000000003, 0xffff838b78fc2300, 0xfffff80011e98ba0, 0xffff838b731bc260). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\020921-5859-01.dmp. Report Id: 5f22a162-7245-4bc1-a4c2-332f5aaa17bd.

    If anyone has any insight on how to figure this out I'd appreciate it. I also have the windows bug dump but not sure how to provide it through here.

    My OS Build is 19042.746 and on Windows 10 Pro.

    Blue screen errors can occur if a serious problem causes Windows to shut down or restart unexpectedly. This error can be caused by both hardware and software issues. To isolate your concern, we'd like to know if there were any changes made
    prior to the issue.

    Before we proceed I would like you to answer the following question:


    • What is the make and model of your computer?

    • Did you make any changes prior to the issue?
    The issue might occur due to Viruses, or something changing/deleting in Registry Files, a failure during Bootup, or a corrupt file which could be due to age of a computer or viruses or somebody tampering with files.
