Windows 10: Windows Hanging When Logging into Second Account

Morning,


Today the second account on my computer would hang when loading:

• It was working fine previously.
• Stopped after a reboot, nothing new installed except plugging in a new Razer Mouse.
• Ran through some obvious troubleshooting step, did a rollback of the last update and restored to a previous recovery point.

Additional steps and observations:

• Created a third local account, same issue
• Changing accounts from standard to administrator resulted in both logging in after a long period, but then Windows itself hangs with a Windows Not Responding message. I could not use the Start menu or Task Bar but could open the browser from a desktop shortcut.
• Looks like whichever account is the last logged in after a restart, the first account that comes up when launching will work fine.
• Subsequently, switching to another account will cause that account to hang as per the above.
• Restarting from the hung account, making that the first account to log into on launch will make that the working account.
• Have nuked and paved the computer, did a clean install of Windows 10 wiping all files, the issue persists.

The Bluetooth stopped working during all this and multiple restarts, error code 45, no device connected. Shutting down and holding the power button for 30 seconds fixed that issue. Not sure if it is related.

Remove account

I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
To delete an account, follow these steps:

1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
2. Type the following command and press Enter. Replace test with the name of your sister's account. Code:

 

Is it advisable/useful to have a second (full) Administrator account?

Firstly, I should say that someone suggested this Forum to me and it's one of the most useful things that I have come across on the Internet!
I read somewhere that one way to safeguard your system is to create a second Administrator account in addition to the one that is built-in in Windows, so that should there be a problem with the "original" Administrator account you would use the second one to restore the first one.
If this is indeed advisable, what are the steps to do it? I presume that I should password-protect the second Administrator account.
Would I have the second Administrator account always enabled and the original Administrator account always disabled?

 

Strange Windows 10 User Account issue.

Unfortunately I had done those steps numerous reboots, it just, reappears for no good reason. The base account isn't even a Microsoft account, it's a local account.

I haven't quite tried the built in administrator account on W10, but so far in my experience on my own computer, the built in account seemed to have absolutely no more control than I did on my own.

It's just strange, I go in, it warns me twice about deleting the account, then it's gone. Reboot, and it's back?

EDIT: Just to specify, both command line and Netplwiz both say only HIS account exists on the computer, it doesn't list this rogue account. This is what I meant in my first post about the fact that even Windows doesn't seem to believe it exists, HALF the time. *Frown
