    Windows Hello Crashes When Trying to Set Pin


    Hi,I have searched for hours online for a solution but have not found anything that works for me.My windows 11 laptop had a failed windows update a few days ago and then would not launch windows. I used Reset this PC option but since then Windows Hello does not work. It fails whenever I try to set a PIN which means I also can't use fingerprint/face login etc. I attempted Reset PC several more times signing in with different accounts etc and nothing fixes the issue. While setting up windows after doing Reset this PC it asks me to set a PIN, but when I do this and press next I always get the 'So

    • How are you setting the PIN and Hello?
    • Which build version of Windows is your PC running on?
    • Were there any error codes or messages?

    In the meantime, we suggest that you follow the steps below on how to set up PIN.

    • Open Settings.
    • Select Accounts.
    • Click Sign-in options.
    • Click the Add button for the PIN and set your PIN.
    • Do the same for the Windows Hello.

    Hello,

    Try to enable PIN using registry. Try these steps:

    1. Open Registry Editor.
    2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System.
    3. Set AllowDomainPINLogon to 1.
    4. Close Registry Editor and reboot your system.
