Windows 10: Windows Hello drivers/sensors broken

So one day I opened the computer, expecting the amazing smiley face I love seeing. But then, windows said it was unavailable for some reason. So i checked why and saw some other questions in the Microsoft Community about the same problem. So then I ended up in the Device Manager checking for the drivers of Windows Hello. Then I found a very interesting thing. Windows Hello Face Software Device had a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark. I scrolled down a bit and then saw that the HID Sensor Collection V2 had the same triangle. I'm guessing there's a problem with the drivers but how do I fi

Fingerprint sensor and Windows Hello

Provide more information to help you better:


1. What are the Windows updates installed on your device recently?

2. Did those updates installed successfully?

3. Are you using the fingerprint scanner externally or is it in-built?

4. What is the make and model of the computer?

Reinstall drivers and compatibility mode.

I suggest you to download and install the latest drives for fingerprint sensor device from the manufacture’s website and check if it gets detected.

If the issue still persist, you may also install the drivers in compatibility mode and check.

I suggest you to refer the Wiki article by Andre Da Costa on
install the drivers.

After installing the drivers in compatibility mode, follow the steps below and check if you are able to get the sign in option with Biometric.

  Press Windows logo key + I key.
  
• 
  Click on Accounts.
  
• 
  Go to Sign in options.
  
• 
  The fingerprint option will always be visible if there is a WBF-supported fingerprint reader (and its associated driver) installed on the computer.

Try to navigate as mentioned below and check if you're able to setup the Windows Hello.

* Click Start

* Select Settings and navigate to Accounts /> Sing-In options /> Windows Hello

* Check whether you're able to make changes to the setting and setup Windows Hello there.

Windows Hello Disabled - Driver Missing

Just updated Windows today, and Windows Hello is broken. Under Sign-In Options I get the following messages:

• "Windows Hello is preventing some options from being shown" BUT ALSO
• "Windows Hello isn't available on this device"

In reading some articles, I see that updating the Surface Camera Windows Hello driver is a possible fix - however, this driver is no longer in my Device Manager. So I'm not sure what to do at this point.

Windows Hello was working just fine yesterday, but today it's completely broken. What to do?
