Windows 10: Windows Hello face logs me into my second account before I can choose one

Ok so I am sorry if this has already been asked before, but I've searched everywhere for a fix for this, but there is nothing that can help my situation.


I have two user accounts on my laptop. I will refer to them as userA and userB. Both have a Microsoft account connected to them different accounts and both are administrators.

userA is a personal account Microsoft account is personal, as well as it is used only for personal things.

userB is a work/school account, which is connected to my organisation and is used only for work.

The problem comes when I go to login. userA uses a PIN to login, while userB has windows hello face enabled with a pin. Every time I close the lid of my laptop putting the pc to sleep, when I open it windows hello sees me and automatically signs me in to userB before I can switch to the login for userA. This happens even after I was JUST IN userA. I have tried to change the default login account but nothing seems to work.


I want the chance to be able to choose which account I want to sign into, and not just automatically signed into userB!

Is it possible to somehow default it to userA, so that because of the password I don't get automatically signed in and have time to switch, OR that windows hello only turns on when I select userB?


I would prefer to keep windows hello on so that I don't have to enter my password in public for userB.

Can i add two faces to Hello with one account?

Hi Emmelie,

There is no option to add another user's face to Windows Hello on a single account. However, you may have your family members register different accounts with their fingerprints, or facial recognition under the same account. This can be done under Settings.

Make sure that you are signed in to the master account to add a new account to the PC profile. See steps below:

• Click Start.
• Select Settings.
• Select Accounts.
• Select Family & other users.
• Add people using the Your family, or Other users options. The only difference between the two is with family, you get an access to child controls, for monitoring and blocking content.

Once they are logged into their own accounts, they can now set up their own Windows Hello log-in. Refer steps below:

• Click Start.
• Select Settings.
• Select Accounts.
• Select Sign-in options.
• Select Windows Hello.
• Choose Facial recognition or Fingerprint, then
  Set up.

Windows Hello Face stopped working

After installing Windows 10 1909 Update KB4551762 and restarting my M/S Surface Book 2 the Windows Hello Face login would not work. I logged on with my PIN, went to settings/accounts to check my Hello/Face Sign In. Message advises that Windows could not find a camera compatible with Windows Hello Face. Prior to the Update Windows Hello Face was working. Would appreciate any feedback on how to resolve this issue
