  1. Windows Hello security pop up stuck top left

Hi guys, so I've recently started using Windows Hello and I really like the face recognition to sign in for some apps, but for whichever reason... The security pop up keeps showing up on the top left of the screen on my most left monitor (I have 3 monitors).

Is there any way at all to make this appear in the center of my screen, like most other pop ups?

  2. ? Block pop-ups in Edge on the phone

    Hello,

Pop-ups or pop-up ads are online advertisement that opens a new browser window when clicked or when the website was accessed. For now, the feature of blocking pop-ups or pop-up ads is available for browsers installed on PC's or desktops.

We request that you file this or up-vote an existing feature suggestion using the Windows Feedback Hub app. To submit a new feedback/suggestion, you can follow the steps provided below:

    • Go to All Apps, search for the Feedback Hub app or press and hold Volume
Down+Power button for about 2-3 secs to launch the Feedback Hub app.
    • Open the menu icon at the top left side.
    • Select Feedback, then at the top right side, tap the add button (+).
    • Select Suggestion and fill up the box with the details needed.
    • Select the right category for the suggestion and then submit.

Windows Firewall security alert keeps popping up.

    Hello,

Windows Firewall plays an important part in helping to protect your computer against virus and security threats. Your concern is cause by a conflicting changes in your security settings. However we suggest that you turn off Security messages for Network
firewall temporarily to check if the issue persists. Follow these steps:

    • Click Start menu.
    • Type Control Panel.
    • Choose System and Security > Security and Maintenance.
    • On the left side, click Change Security and Maintenance settings.
    • Uncheck the box on the left side of Network firewall.
    • Restart your computer.

After an hour, enable Network firewall again. We also recommend that you use another browser and check if the issue persists.

Note: If you disable Windows Firewall for a long period of time, your computer will be more vulnerable to unauthorized access to your network.

    Thanks.

Windows Hello security pop up stuck top left

    Window stuck in aways-on-top mode

Ok, by playing around with the extra buttons tool, I think I could narrow down the cause - or at least find a way to reproduce the bug!

It happens when you use the split-screen snap mode with one of the windows set to always-on-top (e.g. a media player which has this function) and the other window in normal mode - and then drag the vertical separator bar horizontally to adjust the respective window sizes. After releasing the mouse, the normal-mode window's size will be reset to 50% of the screen and it becomes stuck in always-on-top mode. The horizontal resizing is applied to the previously always-on-top window though (i.e. the two windows now overlap or have a gap in between) and it stays in always-on-top mode.

Apparently you're not supposed to use that split-screen snap function with always-on-top windows, but you still can drag such a window to the left or right screen edge and it will snap to one half of the screen. The only difference to a normal (non-always-on-top) window is that you don't get the preview pop up of all other windows to select a second window for the split-screen mode.

The easiest way to reproduce it:

    1. Drag a window in always-on-top mode (e.g. a media player) to one edge of the screen and it will fill the left half of the screen. Note: Some programs with built-in always-on-top mode have different always-on-top states for different window "geometries", i.e. fullscreen, maximized, or "normal". The left/right snap function puts the window in the maximized state, even if it only fills half of the screen, and for example the MPC-HC media player can set a different always-on-top mode for the normal and maximized state. If you get the preview popup to select the second window for the split-screen snap mode, then the window you just dragged was not in always-on-top mode.
    2. Drag another window that is not in always-on-top mode to the opposite edge. Now the two windows should fill exactly one half of the screen each.
    3. Since the two windows "touch" at the center of the screen, you can drag the vertical separator left or right. It's supposed to change the size of the two windows simultaneously. However, if one of the windows is in always-on-top mode, this resize operation will fail for the "normal" window and it will get stuck in always-on-top mode and resized again to 50% of the screen (or the "normal" window might not change its size at all while dragging the separator).

I think it's an obscure Windows bug and there's nothing we can do about it. I've just tested it on a VM with Win 10 1909 and I could reproduce it using MPC-HC as the always-on-top window and a file explorer window as the normal window.
