Windows 10: Windows Hello Unavailable

Recently, my Windows Hello has stopped working. It now says that all the sign-in options are unavailable and the buttons to reset the PIN, etc are all grey now meaning I can't even click them. I've tried the following solutions:- rebooting my PC- checking for updates- running the dedicated troubleshooter - updating camera drivers- enabling and disabling Windows Hello through the registry editor Nothing has worked so far. One of the other solutions I saw was to reset the PC, but that would delete my applications. I have several applications that took a while to set up so I would really like t

Windows Hello unavailable

Hello!

I have an HP Envy x360 with Windows 10 (latest version). For the past couple of months my Windows Hello has not been working - fingerprint scanner/pin/face recognition doesn't work, and under sign-in options, for all the Windows Hello features it says 'This option is currently unavailable'.

I have done all the fixing, troubleshooting, and problem solving I can (including checking group policy options, uninstalling/reinstalling the driver, and repairing system files). I went through all of the suggested steps on these websites: How To Fix Windows Hello Fingerprint Not Working In Windows 10 How to fix - Windows Hello "This option is currently unavailable" -

And nothing has changed.

I did drop my computer a while ago (several months prior to the issue) which caused denting and temporarily stopped the touchscreen from responding, though everything was in working order again without any intervention within a couple of weeks. Perhaps this is a delayed issue from that?

Windows Hello Face Sign In Option Unavailable

I appreciate the efforts taken by you in resolving the issue. I understand that you are unable to use Windows Hello Face and PIN on your computer. I’ll certainly assist you with the issue.



However, please let us know:

• Are you aware of any changes made to the computer prior to this issue?
  

• Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? Refer
  Which version of Windows operating system am I running?
  

You may want to refer the troubleshooting steps mentioned below and see if that helps:



Reset Windows Hello Biometric Database:

1. Press Windows key + R, to open Run dialog box.
   
2. Type services.msc and click on OK.
   
3. Look for Windows Biometric Service, double click on it and click on Stop.
   
4. Now, go to C:\Windows\System32\WinBioDatabase, take a backup of all the files inside the WinBioDatabase folder.
   
5. After taking a backup of the files, delete all the files.
   
6. Now, open Services by following step 1 and 2, and restart the Windows Biometric Service.
   
7. Go to Start >> Settings >> Accounts >> Sign-in options and register the Face data again.
