Windows 10: Windows Hello with multiple microsoft accounts

I have a personal Microsoft account and a work Microsoft account.


During Windows 7 years I always used a local account, during Windows 10 betas and onwards I've always used a Microsoft account to sign in, because you were pushed down that route.


As of yet I've always typed my password whenever it's needed for both accounts. However, I've now decided to use a more complicated password for my personal account that I don't wish to type every time I'm at my computer, so I thought Windows Hello PIN would be a good idea. I can use a long, complex password for my online account, and a simpler, easier to remember password for my physical device which is only valid for that device.


However, when I try to set this up, it requests the password for my personal account that I login with understandable and then requests the password for my work account, but I don't want a PIN on my work account, as that may affect my work PC which doesn't allow me to setup a Hello PIN disabled or not supported by your organisation or some such.


I keep thinking it would be a lot easier to just create a local account with the simpler password and then just sign into Microsoft services after login with the stronger passwords. Accomplishes the same effect easily. Hello just seems to be overcomplicating things?

Cannot link/add my Microsoft Account to Local Account

Im using Win10 Build 1607 with all latest update.

I also run all related troubleshooters:

• Windows Update
• Store Apps (says i have to login in my microsoft account but thats the problem, i can't)
• Microsoft Accounts

No Problem found. Also the suggestions from Microsoft didnt helped.

 

Strange Windows 10 User Account issue.

Unfortunately I had done those steps numerous reboots, it just, reappears for no good reason. The base account isn't even a Microsoft account, it's a local account.

I haven't quite tried the built in administrator account on W10, but so far in my experience on my own computer, the built in account seemed to have absolutely no more control than I did on my own.

It's just strange, I go in, it warns me twice about deleting the account, then it's gone. Reboot, and it's back?

EDIT: Just to specify, both command line and Netplwiz both say only HIS account exists on the computer, it doesn't list this rogue account. This is what I meant in my first post about the fact that even Windows doesn't seem to believe it exists, HALF the time. *Frown

• When you say "the other account has been deleted", is it deleted from the computer? Or, the Microsoft account has been closed?
• Is the new Microsoft account associated with a local account?
