Windows 10: Windows home button and search bar not working.

Hello all,

today I ran into an issue with my windows home button and the search function - it doesn't work!

When I open the home button, it has auto selected the list of files, and won't change (see the "A", in the image)

I have a similar issue with the search bar, where if I try to move it from the spot it is stuck on, it will zoom right back. The issue also persists on microsoft edge, and even the task manager.

I looked up some fixes earlier, and I tried one with reinstalling windows programs, checking for corruptions through the cmd tool and I even tried to reset windows on my computer, to no avail.

Anyone who can help?

HyperSLI (Enabling SLI on non-sli motherboards)

To turn off windows updates in windows 7 follow these steps:

Click the start button, in the search box type in 'windows updates', click on 'windows update'
in the search results list, in the left side of the windows update window click 'change settings'
then in the option bar select 'Never check for updates'.

 

Windows 10 START and SEARCH buttons don't work


For some reason both my main Windows button and Search buttons don't work. Other buttons on the Task Bar work as usual. Right click on either button gives a white-on-black context menu. Anyone have a suggestion, please?

Problem that start button and search do not work has NOT been resolved. I have tried the steps suggested in previous answers but this has not worked. Altogether very frustrating and a big turn off to my opinion of Windows 10. HELP!
