Windows 10: Windows image backup and RPC service

I was having an issue creating a windows 10 image backup which kept on failing and on the advice of info I got online and the steps to remedy it was to make sure 2 services were set to automatic from manual. The 1st service was the block level backup engine service, the 2nd was the Remote procedure call RPC. I set both to auto and started them. The windows backup image was successful after doing this. I then went back in to put both services back to manual. The block level service worked but when I tried to put the RPC back to manual all was greyed out and could not set it to manual. I boote

Guys i am trying to fix my cousins Asus Eee netbook. It has a backup image file that is partitioned on the hard drive but when I go to use it the app will run through a few steps and stop. It is running Vista . Any suggestions?

 

RPC call failed

As you receive an error: The remote procedure call failed, I suggest you to check the status of Remote Procedure Call locator service.

Step 1: Make sure the Remote Procedure Call status is Started and set to Automatic. RPC Locator should be set to Manual. Follow the below steps for the same:

• Press Windows + R keys from the keyboard to open
  Run command.
• Type services.msc in the search box and press
  Enter.
• Search for the Remote Procedure Call locator service
• Make sure the Start-up type is Manual.
  

Steps to set the services to Automatic

• Right click on the service
• If the service is stopped then Start the service
• Select Properties
• And in the Start-up type, select Manual.

Step 2: If the service is already started and set to manual, then run
System file checker (SFC) scan on your computer.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Right click on the Start button, click on
  Command Prompt (Admin).
  
• 
  Type “sfc /scannow” without the quotes and hit
  Enter.
  
• 
  After the scan, restart the computer and check for the issue.

Windows 10 build 1803 - windows backup fails about 40% done with error code 0x800706BA - RPC server not available.

I checked but RPC server is running.

Any suggestions to fix this? Backup used to work on build 1704.
