  1. windows indexing fault

before I explain I have tried all the fixes listed in google and on windows forums, IE: sfc /scannow, the indexing trouble shooter, restarting the index service, so on and so forth without any luck. I do not use Cortana to search, and have turned it off, leaving just the search function.

when using search from file explorer I try to find files and get no results show, even if i'm in the damn folder that holds the file.

I open the indexing option from control panel and the dialogue box shows an empty window where I assume indexed folders would normal be listed, and the legend at the top read 'waiting to receive indexing status...' and nothing happens.

in the same dialogue box the 'modify' and pause buttons are grayed out, when i click on advanced, it seems to freeze as i cant even move the dialogue box around the screen to view whats beneath it, eventually it will open but takes 1/2 an hour or so to do so. when it does open clicking rebuild does nothing. trouble shooter finds no problem.

Resetting the regkey key 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Search' SetupCompletedSuccessfully = 0 has done nothing.

i am now of the mind I need to reinstall, as I have 160'000 mp3's and need the search/index function for these ( I don't want to reinstall if i don't have to, as its boring and time consuming) if there is anyone can help me I will listen to your thoughts, and try any ideas.

i use Malwarebytes and windows antivirus, and there's no difference if i turn them off.

    thanks in advance

    Frank
