Windows 10: Windows ink occasionally stops working Windows 11

I have a pen tablet Huion Inspiroy RTE-100 that I use for studying. It was working just fine until the day before yesterday, but Windows forced me to make an update and I turned off my laptop right after doing the update. To my surprise, when I turned my laptop on to review some notes, the tablet would recognize the pen movement but the cursor would suddenly stop moving and start working again after some seconds. At first, I thought it was a problem with my pen tablet, so I tested it in another device, but it was working just fine. After some research, I started suspecting of the problem bei

Bamboo ink worked previously but stopped

I would like to ask you few questions regarding the issue to get a better clarity.

1. What is the make and model of the computer and the bamboo ink pen?
   
2. Were there any changes made to the computer?
   
3. Is it functioning well except writing, or is it completely not working?
   

I will suggest you few simple troubleshooting steps, kindly follow the below.

Method 1: Restart Services.

• Press Windows + R to launch the Run application. Type “services.msc” in the dialogue box and press Enter.
  
• Navigate through the services named “TabletServiceWacom” and “Wacom Professional Service”. Right-click it and select “Restart”.

Windows Ink Workspace no longer works with 3rd party apps

We appreciate your post on Microsoft Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with Windows Ink Workspace on your Surface Pro 7+. It's possible that the update you mentioned may have caused compatibility issues with third-party apps.



Unfortunately, Microsoft does not provide support for third-party apps, so I cannot guarantee that I can help you get the old Ink Workspace back. However, I can suggest a few troubleshooting steps that may help resolve the issue:

1. Try resetting the Windows Ink Workspace app. To do this, go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Windows Ink Workspace > Advanced options > Reset.
   
2. Restart Windows Shell Experience Host: Sometimes, restarting the “Windows Shell Experience Host” process can resolve issues with Windows Ink Workspace. Here’s how you can do it:
   
   • Open Task Manager (you can press Ctrl + Shift + Esc or right-click on the taskbar and select “Task Manager”).
     
   • Locate the Windows Shell Experience Host process in the list.
     
   • Right-click on it and choose End task.
     
   • Now try opening Windows Ink Workspace again.
     
3. Check for Windows Updates: Ensure that your Windows 11 is up to date. Microsoft occasionally releases updates that address compatibility issues. To check for updates:
   
   • Go to Settings (you can press Win + I).
     
   • Click on Windows Update.
     
   • Click on Check for updates and install any available updates.
     
4. Try using the handwriting feature in Microsoft OneNote instead. OneNote has a built-in handwriting recognition feature that allows you to convert handwritten notes to text.
   
5. Reinstall Windows Ink Apps: You can try reinstalling the Windows Ink apps to see if that resolves the issue:
   
   • Click on the Windows Ink Workspace icon in the taskbar.
     
   • Select Get more pen apps under the suggested area.
     
   • Alternatively, you can launch the Microsoft Store app, browse through apps related to pen input, and install the one you need.
     
6. Check if there are any updates available for WordPerfect or Scrivener. Updating these apps may help resolve any compatibility issues with Windows Ink Workspace.
