Windows 10: Windows Ink Workspace - Keep Sketchpad After Update

Hello all,

I am desperately looking for a way to keep Windows' Sketchpad program on my computer. I love and use the program multiple times daily for sketching, but in the latest Windows update, it has been removed and replaced with Whiteboard, which I cannot use offline and is missing several intuitive and valuable features such as the pencil tool. I am on Windows 10 Pro, version 1903, which I rolled back to when my computer first updated itself following the advice of answers to several other people who had the same issue. Today, however, the computer is finally attempting to force the update. I can extend the update further in increments of seven days, but I would like to find a permanent solution so I can keep my computer safe and up-to-date.

Is there anyway to download the program from my files to an external hard drive or the computer itself so that I can use it after the update? I am otherwise content to update my computer, but I really need to keep this program.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I hope this is the right place to ask; please let me know if this question is better suited for r/techsupport or another subreddit, and please let me know if there is further information or clarification you need. Thank you very much.

Windows Ink Sketchpad

Follow the steps provided below to open sketchpad directly using shortcut keys.

- Press Windows + W to bring up the Windows Ink workspace window.

- Press Tab key to highlight the sketchpad feature on Windows ink workspace and click on Enter. This will open the sketchpad window you were working on.

I can understand the situation must be difficult for you, when there is a need to switch between multiple applications.
Based on your question, we have tried simulating the issue on our system and we came across the same results. This is because, Windows ink sketchpad is not an application, but it’s a feature
of Windows ink workspace.

However, I have researched on the issue and found a workaround to open sketchpad directly using shortcut keys.
Please follow the steps mentioned below to achieve the same:

• Tap on Windows &
  W key at the same time on the keyboard. This will bring up the Windows Ink workspace window.
  
• Now, click on Tab key to highlight the sketchpad feature on Windows ink workspace and hit enter. This will bring back the sketchpad window you were working on.

Cannot switch windows in Windows Ink Sketchpad

Windows ink sketchpad is not an app, but a feature of Windows ink workspace. But I’d suggest a workaround to open sketchpad directly using shortcut keys:

1.Click on Windows+W to bring up the Windows Ink workspace window

2.Click on Tab key to highlight the sketchpad feature on Windows ink workspace and press Enter. You will see the sketchpad window you were working on.
