Windows 10: Windows install and diskpart not detecting Acer Aspire 3 hard drive

Hello,I have recently tried to install windows 10 on my acer aspire 3 laptop. On the partition select screen, there are no partitions shown or there are 3, but once refreshed none are there. If i go into diskpart, my hard drive is not listed for some reason. I’m thinking there is a hardware issue inside the computer:Thanks,Sam

W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

- press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
- diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
- list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
- select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
- clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
- create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
- exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
- click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that

 

Hard drive/ OS issue

• shutdown
• unhooked HDD
• restarted
• yay !!
• reconnected HDD
• restarted
• yay !!

2 of my internal hard drives, not been reconized!!

Try using diskpart to convert one of the drives to basic disk

Code: diskpart list disk (verify this with disk manager to make sure the drive numbers haven't changed. The two disks you are trying to clean should have a * in the Dyn column) select disk # (#= the disk number) convert basic clean create partition primary select part 1 format fs=ntfs quick[/quote]
