Windows 10: Windows installer stuck on manual and greyed out in Services.msc

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

 

Windows Installer service msiserver.exe is set to Manual

For some reason the installer service is set for Manual startup, and on the services settings the option to change it is "greyed out". I can manually start the service, but the start-method field remains greyed out.

How can I force an update to Automatic startup?

I have tried to un-grey the properties in Windows Installer which is continually showing as 'running' but nothing is being installed. When I do try and update I get the 'another installation is happening' error message. It's set to manual. I've clicked
on 'more actions' and it is still greyed out. Any other suggestions as at the moment I can't update anything.
