Windows 10: Windows installs update from sleep mode

Hello Redditors,

today I encountered very strange behaviour from my Windows 10 Computer. I woke up my Desktop from Hibernate (S4) and just went to the Lock Screen and then but the Computer into Sleep Mode (S3) because I forgot something. When I returned after ~10mins the computer had to boot first and wasn't doing anything different from showing the circle. I then cut the power by pressing the power switch and startet again with Windows booting for much longer time and getting me to a screen where it told me "Preparing Windows" and "Phase 1 of 3". After all 3 Phases where completed the pc restarted, checked the C: disk and then I could use it again. Just wanted to share this strange behaviour and wanted to know if I'm the only one with this Bug.



Event Log shows: Package KB4524244 was successfully changed to the Installed state.

and tells me that the System would have been shut down unexpected yesterday (Log in German: Das System wurde zuvor am ‎01.‎03.‎2020 um 21:36:28 unerwartet heruntergefahren) with the waking up from 10mins before not even mentioned.

PC: Ryzen 5 3600 @ Stock

Nvidia Geforce 1060 6GB

16GB DDR4 RAM @ 3200mhz

MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC

Crucial M.2 NVMe SSD

Windows 1909 with Patch KB4535996 not installed

Sleep mode

Hi Adam,

For us to better assist with your issue on sleep mode, we'd like to ask a few questions.

• Have you made any updates to your computer before experiencing this issue?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

Windows 7 sleep mode shutsdown

Just a quick update: Windows no longer reverts back to the BIOS after sleep mode. I used CCleaner to fix the registry and that did the trick

For issues with sleep mode and power options follow the steps provided below.

Run the Power troubleshooter and check.

Follow the steps to run the troubleshooter:

• Open Control Panel.
• Type Troubleshooting in search and click
  Troubleshooting.
• Now type Power in the search option.
• Click on Power troubleshooter to run.

I would suggest you to try updating the Display driver and check if the issue persists. If you already have all the latest drivers from Windows updates, then I would suggest you to visit the computer manufacturer's website, download and install the latest
drivers in compatibility mode and check.
