    Windows is not downloading updates. Fix?


    I'm facing this issue with Windows update since two months now. Windows automatically does check for updates but they all show- Pending download. A download button appears and no matter how many times I press it nothing happens. Only the defender security intelligences updates still download and install automatically.I'm on Windows 10 Home version 21H1x86 and my build string is 19043.899. My PC is ASUS T100TA which was upgraded to WIndows 10 almost two years ago. I'm in Windows insider beta channel. I assume that this problem is occuring since Windows checked & found the following update

    FIXED!! Windows 7 sp1 never ends searching for updates

    They made it part of the WU client then, or it's two different things doing the same. Too bad you can't download it separately.

    FIXED!! Windows 7 sp1 never ends searching for updates

    Pros:
    • No need for a script, easy to apply manually
    • Much smaller download, seems that KB3020369 is not required, only SP1 is needed
    Cons:
    • Windows Update Client downloaded by the script is newer (June 2016 version is included in KB3172605 instead of March 2016)
    • You will still need to download/install hundreds of updates afterwards, most of them are already included in KB3125574 and installed by the script

    Windows 10 forced download

    ^This, then reboot and go to manually update windows. Find KB3035583 in the list of available updates, right-click and "Hide this update" so it doesn't get installed again next go around.
