  1. Windows is stuck in old 2017 update and wont let me do anything about it.

Let me preface this with everything I have tried and by saying that I am not COMPLETELY tech savvy:

-I have scanned for malware several times. -I have tried going into CMD and doing the scan thing to find registry errors, and that failed. -I have tried to contact microsoft and have recieved no help. -I have tried resetting windows entirely and it fails. -I have tried buying a whole new SSD and tried to install windows onto that, and it will instantly restart after the second windows splash.

My problem started quite a few years back. I noticed that windows didn't want to update. My pc would turn on, it would prepare the update, get to 56% and then say it failed and would restart. It would do this loop about 5 times before it would just start up normally. At first this was a minor issue, and figured it was just a borked update from windows and that id just get the next one.

A good couple years back I upgraded my hardware. New mobo, ram, gpu, cpu. Essentially an entirely new computer, minus my boot drive. And I know this can mess with the windows key, but at the time I'm fairly sure i solved that and had it authenticate for a bit.

Well, sure as shit, the update issue continues for a while, and of course, I'm partly to blame for leaving it this long. I get that. But within the last year, ive noticed stranger things happening now. My internet will randomly stop working during even a slight load on it. But ONLY my pc will do this, all other devices in the house are fine and dandy. It fixes itself after a few minutes, or if I use the troubleshooter. But the problem tends to persist every 5-10 minutes. I checked my windows activation section and now it says it is "unable to reach windows activation servers"

So obviously my first thought is malware or a virus. But i have scanned every drive multiple times and nothing comes up.

I decided to just give up and get a new drive and create a new windows usb. Took out all my old drives and slapped in a brand new 500gb ssd after partitioning it and got my usb stick. Booted from it and the windows logo showed up, then a basic blank screen with a command line blinking for a moment, and then a second windows splash for a moment before it rebooted. And it did this in a loop.

I dont know what i'm doing wrong here but my forehead is getting sore from banging my head against the wall. Anyone willing to help this idiot out?

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

    When in win10:
    • Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....
Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
    - Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

  4. Windows is stuck in old 2017 update and wont let me do anything about it.

Microsoft Visual 2017 C++ msi wont install.

    Hi,

Software conflicts are one of the possible reasons why this issue is happening. Based on the error message you provided, an older version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 is blocking the installation. We suggest uninstalling Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 from the control
panel before trying to install the new MS Visual 2017. Follow the steps below:

    • Open Control Panel.
    • Click Programs, then click Programs and Features.
    • Locate Microsoft Visual 2017 C++, then click Uninstall.
After uninstalling the program, try to install Microsoft Visual 2017 C++ again.

Get back to us with the outcome so we can help you further.
