Windows is trying to boot from X: drive recovery environment partition after forced update

I was using windows 10, when it forcefully restart to update you shouldn't be doing this microsoft after starting up my computer again, I got an attempting repair screen, now its giving me 0x0000098 missing or error system 32 files. I've tried all bootrec commands, sfc scan, all recovery options, tried booting from usb with windows 10 ISO file and I get bcd missing config error, nothing is working.

    :)

Help with HP System Recovery partition

I will try and cut this short:

So i have this HP pavilion DV5-1987 laptop, that came with windows vista home premium 32bit. A couple of months later i installed a 64bit version, and about a week ago i installed Windows 7 x64 RTM. Both installations was a fresh install on the C partition, leaving the recovery partition intact and alone.
Now i have regrettet and want the original os to be reinstalled. But it doesnt work.
The bios options does nothing, i press ESC to get to boot options, choose F11 for boot to recovery partition, and it goes straight to windows 7.
i search the internet for options and try these suggestions:
Mark drive D as active partition (the rec partition). it still boots to win 7.
boot to super grub from a boot cd, and press "AUTO MAGIC BOOTER" (something like that). it then shows me two identical "vista boot loader" to choose from, and both goes into win 7, and a third (other OS) that gives me and error and returns to grub loader.

there a several other suggestions but either they wont work in my scenario or are another iteration of what i have already tried.

So uh... help? please? if you need anymore information please ask.

    Duplicate Partitions On Boot Drive

Unfortunately I only have Startup Settings and UEFI Firmware Settings in the Advanced Options menu. I'll need to repair that or do what Megahertz is suggesting.
I don't recall reinstalling over the top of the initial install. It could happen though as the partitions are there as if Windows was installed twice. Question is will your method fix the Recovery menu? Please continue your suggestions on the best route to go. Thanks for your replies!

    Windows Recovery Environment

    Hi

How do you boot using a USB drive and enter the Windows Recovery Environment? I was told that there could be an error in my "partition" and maybe be necessary to do "REPAIR THIS COMPUTER" option.

Im running windows 10 1607 home 14393.2068. My bootable USB drive has w10 1709 version. would that work?

Can anyone give step by step instructions?

    1. if I manage to get into WRE, can I exit? and boot normally afterwards?
