Windows 10: windows keeps automatically adding EN-US keyboard layout

For some reason, Windows seems to regularly check to see if I'm using the EN-US keyboard layout, and adds it if I'm not. Normally, I use a variety of other layouts. This ends up adding another entry to my already long list of layouts to cycle through.

It appears without an entry in the add/remove keyboards settings screen. In order to delete it, I have to first add it via the normal method - then, if I delete the normally-added keyboard, the erroneous entry goes away. It then reappears sometime later, requiring me to go through the process again.

As this picture, The en-us keyboard should not be enable. I reinstalled the windows10 20H2 Pro with the MediaCreationTool/used the registry editor or powershell/Disabled the Automatic Keyboard layout change option . How can i fix it??

Windows 10 keeps automatically adding EN-US keyboard.

However, Windows is being installed with the correct keyboard layout but somehow automatically adds EN-US.

I know that it can be fixed by going to the control panel, as shown in this thread: keyboard layout (United Kingdom) is automatically added.

However this does not tackle the root issue, which is: Why does Windows add the keyboard in the first place?

A solution for this is extremely handy in WDS/MDT/SCCM environments, where new PCs are being deployed all the time.

There is a solution that finally got rid of the god damned keyboards for me! It came from an Apex Legends post on Reddit. In my case the keyboards were added as soon as I started the game.

The solution is:

• Open regedit
  
• Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layouts\
  
• Rename the folder (key) that matches the "zombie" keyboard layout to something else, like
  00000409-NO
  
• Reboot your PC
  

Since there might be multiple keyboards being added, you can see the names by clicking on each folder and it will show in the right pane. Rename all the folders of the keyboards that keep coming back, reboot and enjoy!
