    Windows keeps automatically muting my microphone every time I turn it on


    This screen always shows that its muted whenever I turn on my headset. I don't always use it, I switch between it and my monitor by just clicking the sound options in the tray. This only started occurring about 2 weeks ago. Any ideas?

    Microphone keeps muting itself.

    My built in microphone keeps muting itself. I have tried all of the suggestions on here in other posts... from going to the sound properties, to msconfig and turning everything off (except for Windows services). Which leads me to think its a Windows thing.


    Does anyone else have an answer for this irritating problem?

    Is Microsoft looking into this?

    Does Microsoft even care?

    Hello,

    Looking for suggestions on how to keep my computers microphone muted after waking from sleep.

    I have a Windows 10 machine with a USB microphone attached (also have a XBoxOne Kinect connected).

    For security reasons (Cortana is active) I choose to mute the microphone when I am not actively using it.

    On first boot up the microphone is active (I am OK with this) so as part of my boot up routine I manually mute the microphone using the button on the mic.

    This mutes the mic and turns off the tally light on the mic.

    After putting the machine to sleep (or letting it go to sleep on its own) and waking back up on login the microphone is now unmuted.
    And worst of all the microphones tally light is not on meaning there is no visual indication that the machine is actively listening.

    Suggestions???
