Tried memtest, chkdsk and sfc many times. BSODs happen mostly while booting or shutting down. Frequently PC might boot, but OS is unresponsive and i can only do hard shut down from there and try to boot the PC again. When it boots, it works normally, but sometimes Blue screens still end up happening randomly. I also tried moving ram to the other slot. BSODs started happening about 3 months after i bought the PC. I thought the problem was the ADATA SSD boot drive which it came with, i replaced it with the Samsung one and did a fresh install. BSODs stopped for month and a half and started again.

  2. Constant BSOD ---- Windows get corrupted --- BSOD/Corruption right after clean install

After my last topic: Constant BSOD of different types - Microsoft Community I sent the RAM sticks to warranty. No issue found so they sent them back (I live in a country with little to no consumer protection okay!). In the meantime I borrowed a pair of sticks from a friend. Faced BSOD as well so I knew my Windows was to blame. Did a partial fresh install (only formatted C: drive). I know, I know it's frowned upon but it was during my exams and it fixed the issues anyway. Until last few weeks that is.

Here's a preface and story-time. Me and my little sister use the PC. It has hers and mine Local Admin account. For the last few weeks she faced constant BSOD while I did not. After doing Driver Verifier stress test and reading the WhoCrashed report I found out at least five BSOD were caused by vkg.sys (associated with Vanguard Anti-cheat of Valorant). Since she plays Valorant (and I don't) I deleted her account and created another one. Same result.

Finally yesterday did another partial fresh install of Windows. Now my account has constant BSOD while hers did not. Constant BSOD of various types. Sometimes running sfc/ scannow finds corruption of Windows as well. I ruled out RAM this time since they actually came back from warranty check. I read somewhere to check if new BIOS might be to blame. So I rolled back to last stable BIOS. No bueno even after another partial fresh install.

Someone said his issues got fixed by full fresh install. Did just that this morning. BSODs kept interrupting file backup but I replaced the files everytime and kept on. Formatted the hard disk and the SSD. Made new partitions. Did the whole circus. And what do you know, got hit with BSOD while restoring the backup. BSODs kept interrupting file restore. But this time BSOD was same I think KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE or some such. I had a hunch so ran sfc /scannow. Windows was corrupted and couldn't be fixed. I ran the DISM command to restore files from the install media source. No corruption for now. I feared the that my drives could be failing so did CHKDSK and read the S.M.A.R.T report wirh CrystalDiskInfo. No bad sector and health is good.

    TL;DR

    - constant BSOD and sometimes corruption on only one of the two Windows accounts

    - no fix with partial fresh install as of few weeks

    - no fix with full fresh install

    Ruled Out as probable cause

    - windows installation: freshly installed multiple times

    - drives: 0 bad sector and good health according to S.M.A.R.T

    - RAMs: came back from warranty check testing

Constant BSODs after fresh installation of Windows

    Hi everyone,

I'll try keep this as brief as possible but I am not sure what the important details are to include.
A while back I upgraded my pc to include some new RAM (second hand from someone I trust), and shortly after I started receiving constant BSODs. For some reason the system became stable after a while so I left it be, but the problem returned a few days ago. Eventually I gave up trying to use the new RAM and reverted back to my old set, and a day later I performed a fresh installation of windows but the problem persisted so again fresh installed today to find the same thing occurring. I have a list of almost all the error codes that have appeared since the BSOD codes change almost everytime and repeat every now and then.

*As for how clean the installation was, I did all of the steps in the link below such as clearing partitions and updating all necessary drivers.

    Redirecting

I mentioned about the RAM since I am not sure if I have damaged my hardware during this process. One more detail is that I forgot to check the clock speed when first installing and later found it is 2666MHz where my motherboard supposedly only handles 2400Hz. The clock speed in the bios was 2133MHz and sometimes the system was stable for a couple of days at a time with it in. To be clear I now have the old ram back in the system, which was stable for multiple years.

The most recent codes I have got are:

    \Windows\system32\winload.exe 0xc0000098
    \Windows\system32\drivers\vmbus.sys 0xc0000428

    \Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe 0xc0000221

Kernel auto boost invalid lock release

Usually the system will start after a couple of reboots after each code, sometimes I have to boot in safe mode also.

These set occurred after running sfc /scannow (successful) and then DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth (caused the crash).

Other things I have tried are running verifier.exe, chkdsk (more than once since it usually finds errors every time I run it, 50/50 if it crashes my PC or not), memory diagnostics (usually works but last time I ran it in after my first fresh installation it froze for over an hour so I shut it down). I have some screenshots from eventviewer about some system errors which recurred the few times I checked the viewer, not including them yet since I do not want to clog the main post.

    My system information is:
    i7-7700k @ 4.20GHz

    Gigabyte H110M-H-CF

    NVIDIA GTX 1660

Please let me know what other information is needed to help stop BSODs from occurring, I have more out of date errors which have occurred and can provide any other information too.

Thank you if you read this far.
    Kind Regards,

    Matt
