  1. Windows keeps defaulting my audio to from 2.0 to 5.1

I don't know what causes this, but very often I'll start having audio anomalies and realize Windows has switched my audio from 2.0 (I use headphones and a basic 2 speaker/sub setup) to 5.1. This is particularly frustrating in certain games, as it disables comms and causes me to hear things from the wrong direction.

I've already tried reinstalling Drivers, and as my Sound Card is a Sound Blaster Z, I even have it set there to 2.0, and I even check there before I go into the Windows Sounds control panel. It's correct in the SB menu but the Windows control panel has it wrong. It even does this after a full system wipe.

If anyone has any fix for this, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Edit: For anyone curious, the exact menu is Sounds > Playback > Sound Blaster Z > Configure (https://i.gyazo.com/e419f48d39a71d5f290df47518b399f4.png)

    :)

  2. No Audio Output Device is Installed

    Hi,

You will need to select Windows 8 from the drop down list while installing the driver in compatibility mode.

I would suggest you to try setting the speaker as default audio output by following the steps below and check if it helps.

    1. Right click on the sound icon on the right bottom corner of the taskbar.

    2. Select "playback devices".

    3. If "speaker" is not set as the default device, highlight it and click "set as default".

    5. Save the changes.

    Let us know the result.
