    Windows keeps resetting an employees PDF's to "chrome html document" rather than adobe.


    To be clear, this is a recurring intermittent issue that seems to happen at random for this specific employee and nobody else. Randomly this employees laptop will decide that Chrome is now her default application to open PDFs. Yes we have selected "open with adobe" yes we have used properties to set the default application to adobe and yes we have set adobe to default in settings for pdfs and .html files.Any Ideas?

    Try these methods one by one

    New computer, installed chrome browser. now all my stored pdf are chrome HTML docs! how to correct? - Google Chrome Community

    Can you try this:

    1. Uninstall Chrome
    2. Uninstall Adobe PDF Reader
    3. Install Adobe PDF Reader
    4. Try open random PDF with Adobe PDF Reader
    5. Install Chrome
    (Do this in order as above).

    Try this

    On Windows 10: Click on MS icon on left corner of the task bar (4 rectangles or windows sign)2. Right click > Control panel > Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs\Set Associations3. Sort by Description (Other available options are Name, Current Default)4. You will notice that the (Adobe Acrobat Document) PDF files have been associated with Chrome html or other similar file types like firefox etc

    PDF files accidentally converted to Chrome HTML Documents

    Somehow all the PDF files on my computer (thousands of them) have converted to Chrome HTML Documents.

    Is there a way to wholesale convert all of them back to PDF files?
