Windows 10: Windows keeps trying to use my old email address to send verification codes

I changed the email address on my Microsoft account. It used to be *** Email address is removed for privacy *** now it is *** Email address is removed for privacy *** I can see in my account that it says "The email address you use to sign in to your Microsoft account" right next to *** Email address is removed for privacy *** and Microsoft lets me log in with *** Email address is removed for privacy ***, but Windows keeps asking to send a code to ol****@example.com to verify my identity. When I tell it to send a code to *** Email address is removed for privacy ***, no code is sent to that address. I have checked carefully and do not have any typos in the addresses I am using which, obviously, are diffe

Here is the step to remove that old email address.

Start typing an email address into the “To” field. As soon as you see the old email address being recommended as one of the potential candidates, use the down arrow key to scroll through the list of suggestions. Once you highlight the old email address, type the delete key. In many cases, this will actually remove the entry not only from the current list of suggestions but from future suggestions as well. You may even find that as you mouse over the drop-down list the highlighted item will have an “x” to explicitly allow you to delete it.

Just do this step and your good to go.

Windows 10 keeps requesting and then sending verification code

When logging into Windows 10, it request a verification code. I enter an alt email address and enter the verification code. It keeps repeating this process, even though I am entering the correct verification code!

How do I get pass this bug?

I've yet to see a solution to my problem.

I actually went to try and update my security info on my account which requires a second verification (after already having logged in with my password), so I chose to send to my email, not my hotmail for some reason, but another email. Which is fine, but
once I choose that option, and verify what that email address is, the verification code never actually comes--not to my inbox, and not to my junk mail. I tried using Edge browser (on my surface laptop operating on windows 10) to login which makes no difference.

What is going on???
