Windows 10: Windows Key and media player randomly stop working until restart.

This first happened a few years ago on windows 10 and I fixed it then, but don't remember how and what caused it. My PC on Windows 11 has issues where the windows key stops working, along with iTunes. iTunes won't play any music even after I restart the app. The windows key also stops responding and the menu won't pop up when it is clicked. This is fixed after restarting but happens again after a while. The iTunes issue and the windows key issue seems to always happen together.

New Windows Media Player Plugin for Firefox

Anyone who uses Windows Vista and Mozilla Firefox may be pleased to hear that the Windows Media Player team has now released a plugin for Firefox that should allow the browser to play WMP content on websites. Here are the steps to get it working:

• Installation of the Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin may require administrative access to your PC. It is recommended that you close all other open browser windows before continuing with the installation.
• Click the Install button to automatically download and install the Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin.
• Depending on your security settings, you may see a Security Warning dialog box. Click Install to install the plugin.

There is a known issue if you are using Firefox version 2.0.0.3 on Windows Vista with the installer failing with error code -203. To work around this simply restart Firefox (you will get a notification that Windows Vista will be changing the Firefox compatibility settings) and then install again - the second time should succeed.

The download is available here, and the new plugin works on all versions of Windows XP and Windows Vista (although it is mostly intended for Vista, as that currently has no WMP support in Firefox).

Media Player Errors - Stops playing

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if issue persists.

Method 1: Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter

I suggest you to run the Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter, please refer to the steps below:

• 
  Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
  
• 
  Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
  
• 
  Run the Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter.
  

Method 2: Reinstall Windows Media player

I suggest you uninstall and reinstall the Windows Media Player and check. Refer to these steps:

• 
  Press Windows Key +X, select Programs and Features.
  
• 
  Click on Turn Windows features ON or OFF on the left panel.
  
• 
  Expand Media Features and uncheck the box against Windows Media Player.
  
• 
  Click OK and restart if prompted. Follow the same procedure and check the box against Windows Media Player to reinstall.
  
• 
  Check if issue persists.
