Windows 10: Windows Key Lock Stuck

I've been having this issue for months now and have no idea what's even causing it. I keep somehow pushing a combo of keys that locks my windows key, without touching my windows key itself, that makes my entire keyboard useless so i can't even ask anyone for help or do anything until i restart my whole computer. This happens the most when i'm playing a video game where I have a 12 button mouse, where #1 on my mouse is Control and #2 on my mouse is Alt, for modifiers. Outside of that I use 1-6 on the top numbers on my keyboard, f1 f2 f3, and the letters A D F and Z. This means theres an ability in game on each of these buttons and on some of them IE 1 on mouse 1-4, 2 on mouse 1-4 there are multiple so they require a combo to execute. note there are NO abilities on the F keys with combos, so I only ever touch those by themselves.


So Somehow while playing i will random just start getting popups of apps across my taskbar. As if i were pushing Win Key + 1, Win Key +2 Etc. I also can no longer type to anyone. just hitting W which is walk forward in game , and nothing else opens up windows whiteboard. Q brings up Apps, Etc. etc. My ONLY fix has been reseting my entire computer as stated before. Which is really annoying and in really just unsuable. Like im competitive in this game and being interupted to the extent i now have to reset my machine which is typically a hard boot for speed so i can get back in for my team, is ungodly annoying. And there seem to be 0 posts online about anything like this happening to anyone else.


ALL sticky key settings are set to off and windows key lock is off as well. I need to know what combo is being pressed thats causing this to happen and how to permanently disable it. If possible i'd like to permanently disable all windows key hoykeys, but can't find it anywhere in settings. At a minimum it'd be nice to know what to push to get it to restore to normal functionality so that i don't have to reset every time it happens. Thanks for any assistance. Also i included these notes to share that, i don't need basic tech support, skip to the most advanced stuff possible. Anything that's already been posted in your forums about Windows lock, ive read every word and nothings helped. Thanks again.

Rotation lock key is not functioning

Since the Rotation lock is still grayed out, our next step is to uninstall/Update your display driver. To uninstall your your drivers, you can do the following:

• Press the Windows and X key on your keyboard and click on
  Device Manager.
• On the Device Manager window, click on the Display adapter drop-down.
• Right-click the driver and choose uninstall.
• Restart your computer.

If it is the same, update the said driver by following these steps:

• Go Back to the Display adapter drop down in Device Manager.
• Locate your display adapter driver, right-click and choose
  Update Driver Software.

We would also suggest that you go to your device manufacturer's website and download the latest driver for your device.

If the computer beeps while you are typing, Toggle keys and/or Sticky keys are active. The Toggle Keys can emit a beep when the Lock keys are pressed. The Sticky Keys function can emit a beep when the Ctrl, Alt, Shift, and Lock keys are pressed. Use the
following steps to disable Toggle Keys:

1. Type Ease into the Start Search field and select Ease of access
from the populated list.

2. Scroll down the page and select Make the keyboard easier to use.

3. If selected, remove the selection from Turn on Sticky Keys.

4. Click Set up Sticky keys.

5. Remove the selection from Turn on Sticky Keys when SHIFT is pressed five times
and click Save.

6. Remove the selection from Turn on Toggle Keys.

7. If selected, remove the selection from Turn on Toggle Keys by holding down the NUM LOCK key for 5 seconds
and click on Save.

Additionally, I would also suggest you to follow the below steps and check if changes to the keyboard properties helps to resolve the issue.

1. Right click on the Start Menu and select Control Panel.

2. Click on Keyboard to open Keyboard properties.

3. Check if the provided options are set to your preference.

• Set Repeat Delay to long.
• Set Repeat rate to fast.

Computer stuck at lock screen and after Anniversary Update on Windows 10

The first suggestion is not helpful since the problem is that we have many open programs stuck behind the lock screen.

I have run into this problem and tried the On-screen keyboard but it does not help.

An additional data point is that it does not matter what password is entered.

Enter correct password -> spinner shows up, after about 30 seconds the spinner goes away and the screen remains locked.

Enter blank password (simply hit Enter) -> same behaviour as above.

The behaviour is the same whether using physical or On-screen keyboards.
