Windows 10: Windows Key retrieval after SSD death

Hi.As the title suggests, my OS drive completely died on me yesterday. I bought a new one, put it in the same PC, made a boot USB to reinstall and did a fresh install.I'm pretty sure I've logged into the same MS account that I initially used on this PC god I hope I'm not wrong about that, but I'm being asked for my Windows Activation Key and all I've got is the serial number for the Windows 11 Home purchase off an invoice. If I fail here I'll try giving the PC's retailer a call to see if they have a record of the key on their system, but is there an easier way to retrieve my Windows Activati

Is my SSD dead?

It happened about a month ago so I'm can't remember the exact details of how it died. I think I restarted the PC and the message was there I had no OS. Today I popped in my mirrored HD and was up running. I hocked up the SSD and restarted the PC but no sign of the SSD. Power is on (Zalman “hot swap” case has a power LED for each disk). I tried to find it in DOS but the drive is no where to be found. Any suggestions for a next step? It 1½ month past RMA but the important thing is to retrieve some of the files.

SSD death reinstall windows 10 with existing windows 7 key

My SSD is totally dead. Really dead, i can't see it in the explorer connected over USB, it's not shown in the BIOS, it's not shown in a linux live environment.. Really dead.

So the problem is that my Windows 10 on this SSD was upgraded from Windows 7 and I forgot to extract the new Windows 10 key from the SSD. Now I have a death SSD with the Windows 10 Key, and the old Windows 7 Key which was already used when I upgraded Win 7 to Win 10.

Is it possible to install a clean Windows 10 to a new SSD and activate it with the already used Windows 7 Key?

I definately can not rescure the SSD, it is dead.

 

BSOD - How do I retrieve Windows Key from an old SSD drive?

My 11 year old computer will not boot due to "Bad System Config Info". I've tried System Restore, tried Resetting This PC, tried restarting in safe mode but no joy. I have just completed a new pc build with an Intel i7 13700 and a Z790 motherboard and would like to install Windows 11 on to it. How do I retrieve the Windows 10 product key? It is on a 2.5" sata SSD and I have a SSD external enclosure that I have used to gain access to my non-Windows files using a laptop.

And if I can retrieve the W10 key, can I use it to upgrade to W11? Do I boot W11 on the new machine and use the W10 product key? or must I install W10 first, activate it and then upgrade to W11?
