    Windows Lag, 100% DIsk Usage, But No Aps Using The Disk Extensively.


    I just change my PC from intel to AMD. Then I reinstalled my Windows using factory reset option. However, I am system is temporary freezing every now and then for few seconds before returning to normal. When that happens, the disk usage in the performance tab on the task manager shows 100% utilization (drive C). However, when I switched to Processes tab, there seems to be no program or service that use the disk extensively. Also when I do antivirus check, the disk usage doesn't event hit 100%.

    Here's what I tried to do so far but to no avail:

    - disabled superfetch

    - disabled windows search

    - changed the page file, both 1.5x of my RAM and zero

    - updated the bios

    - updated all driver

    Hey

    Thank you for the reply,but your suggestion proved no use to me still the disk usage remains 100 percent and my system lags in performance.

    So this thing started to happen me in May, but only 1 time.

    In June, this happend few times, and my pc lagged.

    Now I have 100% Disk Usage almost everytime, but, when it's not 100% disk usage, my PC still lagging.

    I have a laptop Acer Aspire E5-575G-31LP with:

    Intel Core i3-7100U 2.4 GHz, 3MB L3 Cache

    NVIDIA GeForce 940MX 2GB Dedicated VRAM GDDR5

    4GB DDR4 memory

    1000GB HDD

    Windows 10 Home OS

    Why I have 100% disk usage?

    Why laptop is lagging even if disk usage is not higher?

    PS:I just reinstalled Windows and i have all drivers installed.

    100% disk usage

    The most common cause of 100% disk usage appears to be Superfetch and Prefetch, but there are also other causes. You can try disabling both these features and see if it helps.
