Windows 10: Windows licence activation after motherboard change - 0xC004F213

Hi,

I just upgraded my PC with new motherboard, RAM and CPU. I tried to follow the procedure I found on the web to keep Windows. I made sure that my license is linked to my Microsoft account before changing motherboard.

After everything was installed, I booted the PC and everything seems to work, all my programs are still installed. Everything works but I have the message that Windows is not activated.

When I go to the settings --> update and security --> activation --> troubleshoot, Nothing useful happens. I get the message "Verify your internet connection. If you are connected to internet and it still does not work, contact your system administrator for more information." I am translating this briefly from French. I saw on web pages that I should have and option called "I changed hardware on this device recently".I do not have this option but only "Learn more about Windows activation" which leads me to Windows webpage.

Also, the error code is the one in the subject: 0xC004F213 which indicated that no product key was detected I think.

Can't activate windows 10 after changing motherboard

Hello,

I can't activate my windows 10 license after changing my motherboard.

The license I have is a Windows 7 Pro license, that got changed into a Windows 10 license, when the upgrade was free.

Steps I took previous to the motherboard change:

- I linked my Microsoft account with my device, so that my license is registered under my account (it showed up with my mail in the accounts section)

Now, with the new motherboard built in, I can't activate Windows 10 anymore.

I tried the support steps listed by the Microsoft helper (Activation -> Click Troubleshoot), but that did not work.

In the Activitation settings I get the error code: 0xC004F213

Does anybody know a solution for this, as I haven't found one so far.

 

Unable to activate Windows after hardware change

Usually the error code 0xC004F213 comes when there is a hardware change done on the computer (like Motherboard or Hard drive). The Windows license is associated with the device hardware. If there is any significant hardware changes, such as replacing
motherboard or hard drive, Windows won’t be able to recognize the license.

I suggest you to try the troubleshooting steps from the article
Reactivating Windows 10 after a hardware change and see if Windows gets activated.

If you are using an OEM computer that came with Windows 7, and the motherboard has not been changed, then you can follow the steps to retrieve the product key that came with your OEM computer. To retrieve the product key follow the steps mentioned
below:

1. Type Command prompt in the search bar, that is on the taskbar.
   
2. Right click on Command prompt icon and select Run as administrator.
   
3. Type the command and press on Enter: wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey
   
4. You will find the product key.

windows 10 activation on motherboard change


Hi,i need change my motherboard,anyone got windows 10 activated on this situation? I dont have windows pre-installed on this pc,have windows 8 dvd with licence code from store and windows 10 activated on old motherboard already.
In windows 8,there was phone activation that worked,but windows 10?
