Windows 10: Windows Live ID Servers Down

Until very recently as of a few months ago, I am unable to sign into my Windows Live ID i.e., Microsoft account on Windows 7. I receive the following error upon attempting to log in with my credentials: "We can't sign you in. Our server is having a problem. We're working to fix it as soon as we can, so try again in a few minutes." See screenshot below.My OS has every available, official Windows update installed. Can anyone verify what is happening on the Windows Live ID servers? I can confirm Games for Windows Live servers are still active. The last time I successfully logged in was April

Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Community. I understand you're running in to a Windows Live ID service is unavailable error when trying to sync notes. I also understand that a hard reset has been unable to resolve the issue.



There are a few other steps that I found listed in another forum that may be helpful. The steps are marked as the answer for

Fail to sync Windows Live ID after changing the server field

Hi Roobaj,

I don't have a Hotmail account (my Windows Live ID uses another email). You seem to suggest that if I have a different Hotmail account on my phone, I can control the server settings (from my Hotmail settings) for both the Windows Live and the Hotmail accounts?

Alright. It's a shame those didn't work. They normally do but we have some other steps to try:

• Switch the connection you're using and try to sync the Windows Live Account again. If you're using Wi-Fi, disconnect from you Wi-Fi network and use cellular data. Do the opposite if you're using cellular already.
• Change the server name you're syncing with. Tap settings > emails + accounts
  > tap the Windows Live account > navigate to server > tap > try the following server names m.hotmail.com, blu-m.hotmail.com, bay-m.hotmail.com. Try to sync the account with each of the servers.
• Check to see if you have enabled 2 step verification on your account. You can do that by signing into
  http://accounts.live.com and going to the
  Security & password section. If you have the option to start/turn on this feature move to the next step. If you have the option to turn this off, go down the page and create a app password. Once you have created this password, use it as
  the password on your phone and try to sync the account again.
• Try resetting the password you use for your account. For this purpose, I suggest you create a password that is 12 characters or less and does not contain any special characters. Try to sync again with the new password.

Please let us know if you encounter this issue after trying the previously mentioned steps.
