Windows 10: Windows Live Mail suddenly very slow to change between email folders

I have been using Windows Live Mail for years and have 3 email accounts synced in it. After some recent changes to my PC, the program is suddenly very slow to change between email folders. What I mean specifically is if I click on one inbox, and then click on my deleted folder, there is literally a 5 second delay before the view is switched to the new folder. This has never happened before, it normally take mere milliseconds to change between my email folders. Switching between any folders at all, even if they are empty, takes 5 seconds!!

As for the changes made to my pc, I recently was screwing around with my drive partitions and made a really stupid mistake. I accidentally created a new volume which took up my whole secondary HDD (not my OS drive, but where my emails are stored). Thankfully some quick google searching got me a free software that recovered my partitions and after a quick reboot my PC appeared to be working fine again. Except for Windows Live Mail... which when I opened had lost all my email accounts. I re-added them, and for some reason they started to download all my emails from the internet and wouldn't recognize the mail folders where all my emails are stored on my secondary hard drive. It took over an hour to download all the emails again, which were stored in the default location on my OS drive. I normally keep them on a secondary HDD to save space on my OS SSD, so I was forced to delete all the emails on my secondary HDD where I normally keep them and then direct Windows Live Mail to move all the emails it had just downloaded to the location I just deleted my emails from.

So at the end of the day I made a really dumb mistake, fixed it, and then had to do this weird workaround solution to get my email storage working the way I am used to. All this screwing around now when I use my email it is super slow to switch between folders...

I have already tried doing a full defrag of the drive where my email is stored, as well as a repair of windows live essentials from the control panel.

I have heard that addons can cause problems like this in WLM but until today I didn't even know WLM had addons.

I would appreciate if anybody has any suggestions on what I can do before I try reinstalling Windows Live Mail. If I do that I will have to re-download all my emails again...

Windows Live Mail will not send emails with attachments

Are you telling me that Windows Live Mail no longer works like it did? I have used it for a very long time with absolutely no problem, with perfection, and just suddenly it stops sending mail with attachments? That seems very unreasonable to me that I
will have to change emails in order to send attachments. There should be a fix somewhere for this problem without completely changing email providers.

 

WP 8 email Questions

What is the relationship between Outlook.com and MS Outlook? And all the web-based email accounts (live, outlook, hotmail, gmail)?

When I purchased the phone I had to create a MS email account (live). Then I was able to link my Live account on the phone with my local provider email account on MS Outlook. The sync between the two is very slow and sometimes doesn't work so I have to manually
delete emails on my Live account on the phone. I know that MS Outlook on my PC is the primary account. So when I delete emails in MS Outlook the Live account on WP 8 should mirror this action. I don't understand the link between emails. Please explain how
a web email account works in relation to MS Outlook. In my MS Outlook I have 56 Folders, some with Folders inside, etc.

 

I don't use it myself but if you look in Programs and Features you should find Windows Essentials or very similar, double click it and you should get the option to repair. Try that first.

Ok then how about reindexing/compacting the folders, worth a shot. This should be still relevent.

Just tried it, no change *Sad

 

I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled windows live mail with absolutely no change in my problem, even though my emails are now being stored by windows live mail to my SSD.
Edit: Looks like windows live mail remembered the old location and still saved the emails to my HDD.

I don't know what else to do at this point short of a clean OS reinstall *cry

 

Found an answer in a separate thread, I just needed to rebuild the windows search index.
