  1. Windows LiveKernelEvent 141 and game crashing

    Hello,

I am having a persistent problem that started several months ago. I have attempted to fix the issue but it persists no matter what I do. The issue is crashing in certain games with no error message or BSOD. The game will just freeze, requiring me to exit manually to desktop. The computer runs flawlessly otherwise and was built 2 years ago. It has never struggled to run the games I play, in fact it seemed to be overkill based on the FPS and resolution I run. I use Steam for games and this is the only thing this computer is used for I have a second older PC that I use for everything else. I do not run any third party software, just Steam and the games, of which I have NO MODS installed.

When viewing the reliability history, I see a Hardware Error with the event name of LiveKernelEvent Code 141. Here are my system specs and the list of troubleshooting steps I have taken thus far: NOTE- I do not run any overclocks at all. UEFI Setting are all DEFAULT, which is the best way to ensure max performance from the Ryzen 1.5 Chips leave everything at auto.

    • Asus ROG Strix X-470-F motherboard with latest BIOS
    • AMD Ryzen 2700X CPU
    • 32GB of G-Skill RAM
    • MSI GTX 1080 Gaming GPU
    • Samsung 970 EVO 500GB SSD
    • EVGA Supernova G2 850W Gold PSU
    • Creative Soundblaster Audigy 5 RX soundcard
    • Windows 10 Home, latest build

    Troubleshooting Steps:

    1. cleaned PC it is very clean to begin with
    2. reseated all components in slots
    3. verified integrity of game files in Steam- no issues
    4. verified integrity of Windows installation using SFC /scannow - no issues
    5. uninstalled and reinstalled problem games
    6. uninstalled Steam and all games, then reinstalled
    7. uninstalled GPU drivers and reinstalled with DDU for a clean install
    8. uninstalled GPU drivers and reinstalled OLDER, KNOWN STABLE GPU drivers
    9. removed Soundcard and uninstalled drivers
    10. removed RAM sticks and installed in different configurations from 1 stick to all 4
    11. monitored CPU and GPU temps through all of this and all were WELL within limits
    12. checked disk health and other diagnostic measures- all check out fine

With no fix on this PC, I used an old PC to swap parts into to see if the problem follows the part. Here are the specs of the OLD PC and the corresponding troubleshooting steps:

    • Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0 Motherboard
    • AMD FX 8370 CPU overclocked to 4.85 GHZ
    • 8GB DDR3 Hyper-X RAM
    • Samsung 960 EVO SSD
    • Rosewill 1000W Gold PSU
    • Asus Xonar DG Soundcard
    • Gigabyte GC-WB867D-I REV Bluetooth 4.2/Wireless AC/B/G/N Band Dual Frequency wifi /Bluetooth card
    • Windows 10 Home, latest build

I tried all of the following troubleshooting steps, and had ZERO issues for several weeks of playing:

    1. the GTX 1080 GPU from the problem computer was installed in the old PC. Steam was then installed along with the same games- No problems
    2. swapped the Rosewill PSU with the EVGA PSU from the crashing computer- No problems
    3. swapped soundcards and performed a clean install of drivers- No problems
    4. as I was unable to swap RAM DDR3 vs DDR4, or CPU Ryzen vs. FX, I returned all the parts to their original computers and moved on to what I could fix.
    5. reinstalled Windows 10. This did not fix the issue.
    6. I RMA'd the motherboard and performed another clean install of Windows 10- problem still persists.

As I am unable to interpret crash logs, I need some assistance in determining what piece of hardware needs replacing. At this time I'm down to the CPU, the RAM unlikely since I swapped them around in different slots, even going down to 1 stick, so it's unlikely all 4 sticks are bad, or the SSD as these are the only things I could not move from one computer to another. I am assuming its definitely hardware based on the number of times I've reinstalled software and OS, and the reading I've done on the Code 141.

    Thank you.

    :)

I have been getting LiveKernelEvent 141 in reliability monitor and it causes games to crash. I checked everything with my graphics drivers and disabled other programs. What can I do do fix it?

  3. Livekernelevents 117 and 141

    Hi,

I have a brand new gaming setup and i keep getting Livekernelevents 117 and 141 in several games.

Not all games but i saw this in 3 games already.

I tried modifying the TDR but this only resolved the issue for 1 game.

I also tried to stress test my GPU and CPU to see if they are running correctly. No problems were found.

The temp is also OK. This problem will arise even when playing on very low settings for my system.

Does anybody know what to do?

My system: MSI A320M-A PRO MAX (MS-7C52) Performance Results - UserBenchmark

    Kind regards,

    Wessel

  4. Windows LiveKernelEvent 141 and game crashing

    LiveKernelEvent 141 - Hardware failure??

My computer was built for gaming. But every time I try to run my preferred racing game I experince a crash. The Reliability Monitor gives this error message:

I need help in understanding all this, since I have no idea of where to look for the origin of the failure.

    Thanks in advance
