Windows 10: Windows logging me into TEMP account when trying to log into my account

I first had this problem after rebooting my computer, I tried to log into my account and remember seeing an error. I tried to log in again and this time windows logged me into a seemingly brand new account, with all my settings gone. I dug around and figured out I was in a TEMP account, every time I would restart the computer, I would be logged into after a brief Preparing Windows a brand new TEMP account which seems to have admin privileges , however, my old account is still there with all of its settings and files under C:\Users. I need to keep those files, some of them are important, bu

Also may I suggest you change email accounts to one of the following.....

Gmail
Outlook

The reason is they both use "Step two verification". This style of verification means even if a hacker gets your password they cannot log in to your account. You see every time someone try's to log in that hasn't been verified you will get a text or a phone call giving you a final code to log in. Its very easy and simple to setup also. The great thing is once you setup your Email application with a specific "application password" from that account you never have to log in again AND your account is protected from being logged in from foreign entities.

I like the new outlook personally however Gmail is also damn good. Gmail also has an IP tracker that allows you to see WHERE the account has been logged in from. Anyway let us know if you wanna change over and have any questions. We will be happy to help and welcome to TPU!

 

Windows logging me into TEMP account when trying to log into my account

I tried to log in again and this time windows logged me into a seemingly brand new account, with all my settings gone. I dug around and figured out I was in a TEMP account, every time I would restart the computer, I would be logged into (after a brief Preparing Windows) a brand new TEMP account (which seems to have admin privileges) , however, my old account is still there with all of its settings and files under C:\Users. I need to keep those files, some of them are important, but I can't log into the account.

I then saw online that if I dug in the registry editor that I could get more info. In the registry editor, under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList, i saw two accounts with the same SID, the TEMP one and my account (which has the correct Profile image path : C:\Users\{UserName}) have the same SID but my account has .bak at the end (I'm guessing backup).

In a lot of the fixes, I am suppose to delete the temp one and remove .bak, and set State and Refcount to 0, however I don't have any Refcount in any of the accounts.

It says that if my profile image path is correct, my account has been corrupted and can't be used anymore, but is there any way to transfer the data in my old account ?

Steam account 'logged in elsewhere'.

So this time Steam didn't automatically log me in but asked for my password because I was 'logged in elsewhere'.

Personally I know for sure I wasn't. Obviously I changed my password.

However, this has already happened some weeks ago as well... and I had changed my password then too.

I see no difference in my account, my games are still there, I can still log in, no one played any games using my account.

So, two questions:

- Can I say for sure that someone is guessing my password and logging in?

- Is there a way to check through my steam account where 'elsewhere' is?
