Windows machines cannot resolve Mac by hostname.local

I'm trying to get VNC Viewer to connect from my Windows hosts to my Mac by hostname and mDNS/zeroconf, but only IP address works.

Windows 10 machines are x64 1803 current with Windows Updates through this morning; Mac is MacBookPro 2017/High Sierra current on Apple Updates through this morning.

I went off to investigate basic mDNS name resolution and found:

    1) Windows 10 machines can ping other Win10 machines by hostname.local; ping resolves to IPv6 addresses
    2) Mac HighSierra machine can ping itself and Win10 machines by hostname.local; ping resolves to IPv4 addresses
Problem: Windows 10 machines cannot resolve mac by hostname.local, for ping, VNC Viewer, etc.

Windows 10 machines are running Bonjour via iTunes install. I have tried creating Windows inbound and outbound firewall rules to allow Boujour mDNSResponder.exe in and out of firewall. No change.

Have tired installing Apple BounjourPSSetup on Windows 10 machines. No change.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions how to get Mac resolved by hostname.local on my Windows machines!

    :)

  2. Windows NOT resolving Hostname

Does anyone know why mc PC is not resolving hostnames? As you can see from the screenie, it is returning is OWN name for each device on the network.

  3. Windows 10 changing MAC Address and remove Machine GUID

I need to change it because i've been banned from an online games for no reason and the admin advice me to do this step:
    1. Change MAC address with TMAC
    2. Change the hostname in regedit
    3. Removing random number in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\xxxx and last one
    4. Removing machine GUID in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography
That's step i need to do, to get unbanned. But i afraid all of step above could harm my computer because of changing registry.

Windows machines cannot resolve Mac by hostname.local

Question:- How to add client to domain from domain controller side?

    Hi Guys,

-I have domain called lab.com created on virtual machine Windows Server 2008
-I have added a client machine Linux machine rhel6 to domain lab.com in /etc/host file
-I am able to ping DC from linux machine by IP and hostname .
But from DC I can only ping Linux machine by IP address and not by its hostname "rhel61.lab.com"

I don't want to add linux machine entry to DC's hosts file as it is DC so it should resolve it

But I wish to know what step or doings I am missing from DC side that I am not able to ping linux machine by its hostname.

    Please suggest.

    Thanks.
