Windows Magnifier docked mode stopped working after putting two Windows side by side

When starting to use Magnifier for the first time ever, the docked mode was working fine, with the magnified Window across the top and the non-magnified Window on the bottom, and I could adjust the two Window sizes vertically. I played around with resizing these two related Windows, and I created somehow two side by side related Windows, one not magnified and one magnified. The two Windows were still correctly related in that the cursor in the non-magnified Window controlled what the user sees in the magnified Window. But now in docked mode there is no magnified Window at all, so something brok

    :)

    Windows Magnifier- Docked Mode

    Hello,

I have been attempting to use the windows magnifier and the docked mode isn't working. Each of the other modes work perfectly fine, but every time I try to use the docked one, it just pulls up a window that stays black. Is there a way to fix this or am I
stuck using the other forms of windows magnifier?

    Thanks,

    Asher G

  3. Windows Magnifier- Docked Mode

Hi Asher. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, and Volunteer Moderator, here to help you.

Well, that's certainly annoying. Is there anything else that decided not to work with the dock?

There are some decent alternatives to magnifier for Windows 10 here:

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you'll wait to rate whether my post resolved your problem, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

Windows Magnifier docked mode stopped working after putting two Windows side by side

    Magnifier Docking Issue

I have been using the Magnifier app since I started using Windows 7. I use it in docked mode, on the right hand side of my monitor so that my screen has a left and right side, rather than a top and bottom. My workplace recently upgraded us from Windows
7 to Windows 10, and I have set Magnifier up in this configuration again.

In Windows 7, when you maximized a program for full screen, the border of the Magnifier window formed the border of that maximized area, regardless of where the Magnifier window was docked. In Windows 10, when the Magnifier window is docked, maximizing
a program sets the area to the edge of the screen, not the border of the Magnifier window. This causes anything on the side of the program to be hidden under the Magnifier window.

Is there a way to set the border of the Magnifier window so that when I maximize a program it automatically resizes to the border of the Magnifier window rather than the edge of the screen, a la Windows 7?

I am aware that if I mouse over the Magnifier window, the hidden area will be shown, similar to lens view and that I can also manually size all windows to fit the desired area
