Windows 10: Windows Mail addressed to Gmail accounts going to Spam or Trash.

We recently changed to Windows Mail after Windows Live Mail crashed, losing years of records in the folders. We are finding that emails from WM addressed to Gmail accounts are going straight to Spam or even Trash folders. How do we fix this?Is it a Windows Mail problem or just us?

GMail Accounts Get 3 GB of Storage Space

As a user of Yahoo's online mail (for the past 7 years) and Gmail (for the past 2 or 3, can't remember how long it's been around), I have to disagree with you.

I use online mail accounts like Yahoo and Gmail simply to catch email through a forwarder on a domain I own. The forwarder doesn't block anything -- it simply redirects all mail sent to it to an email address I set up, either at Yahoo or Gmail. I've had this same email address at this domain for about 7 years, so it's had time to get on a lot of spammer's lists.

When I set this forwarder up to forward mail to Yahoo, something like 50-60 pieces of spam get through to my inbox every single day. This isn't including the 3 or 4 hundred that get redirected to the junk folder. And that's just one day.

When I set it up to forward to Gmail, that number of spam emails that make it to my inbox drops to two or three.

So, either Gmail's server admins are more on the ball when it comes to spam, or else Yahoo's simply not trying hard enough.

A WORK-AROUND FOR WINDOWS 10 MAIL APP NOT SENDING EMAILS TO THE ‘SENT’ FOLDER AND SENDING THEM TO THE SPAM FOLDER INSTEAD AND ALSO FOR INCOMING GMAIL EMAILS NOT SHOWING ATTACHMENTS

Open Gmail.com, go to settings, select 'Filters and blocked addresses'

Select 'Create a new filter'

In ‘From’ field enter your gmail.com email address

Click ‘Create new filter’

On the next page, select ‘Never send it to spam’

Click ‘Create filter’

This work-around also solves an issue with incoming gmail emails not showing any attachments!

Have you tried:

Microsoft did have an update for this app. You can go to the Microsoft Store, click on the three dot (...) on the extreme right and pick "Downloads and Updates" and click the "Update" button to check and install. If you decide to go to step 2 below, that
will probably install the most updated version without doing this step. Note that your mail, if not deleted already, will repopulate in the app if you do other than step 1.

1) Resetting the app - Settings > Apps. Then find "Mail and Calendar" in the list, click on it and select (in blue) "advanced options" and select "Reset" further down

2) Removing (same as above but select "uninstall" from the choices)and reinstalling the app (called Mail and Calendar) from the Microsoft Store

3) When you add your account(s) back, if they are Google Mail, pick "Other Account, POP, IMAP" account instead of picking the Google Mail type and create them that way

Before you do anything else, be sure to go through all of the settings because they may change and will now be Microsoft default settings.

You should do send test emails to yourself to see if anything has changed. And be sure that all trash, spam or deleted boxes for each account are set as favorites (click on "More" in the list and then right click on the one your want to make a favorite)
so you can easily monitor what's going on.
