Windows Mail App Not Displaying Notifications Correctly For New Emails On Task Bar/Start Menu

    Hi,

Sometimes when using the default Windows Mail app with my Outlook account, I don't receive notifications alerts for new emails and other times it works fine.

I receive the action centre notification fine, but the mail icon pinned to the Start & Taskbar sometimes won't show the new notification i.e. the number 1 over the mail icon.

I have tried resetting the Mail app, re-adding my account, tweaking the notification settings in the app and in windows and nothing so far has fixed it.

Any ideas what else I can try to fix my notification issue?

I am running the latest version of Windows Home 64-bit.

    :)

    new email notifications

    Greetings MikeHubert,

My name is and I'm here to help you.

First, you must make sure app notifications are enabled in Windows. To do this, open the Start menu and click “Settings”, then follow this simple steps:

    1. On the “Settings” dialog box, click the “System” icon.
    2. On the “System” screen, click “Notifications & actions” in the list of items on the left.
    3. To enable app notifications, click the slider button under “Show app notifications” in the “Notifications” section on the right side of the “System” screen so the button changes to “On”.
    4. Close the “Settings” dialog box by clicking the “X” button in the upper-right corner.

Open the Mail app by clicking the “Mail” tile on the Start menu.

NOTE: If you have the Search box available on the Taskbar, you can enter “Mail” into the Search box and open the Mail app from the search results.

    1. At the bottom of the left pane on the Mail app window, click “Switch to settings”.
    2. The “Settings” menu pane flies out from the right side of the screen. Click “Options”.
    3. Scroll down to the “Notifications” section at the bottom of the “Options” pane and click the slider button under “Show in action center” so it changes to “On”.
    4. To have Windows display a flyout notification above the notification bar on the Taskbar when a new email is received, click the “Show a notification banner” check box so there is a check mark in the box.
    5. To close the “Options” pane, click the envelope icon at the bottom of the right pane on the Mail app window.
    6. To close the Mail app, click the “X” button in the upper-right corner of the window.

    Regards,
