  1. Windows mail app suspends itself - not getting emails unless window is active

Lately, my Windows Mail App on Windows 10 suspends itself when the window is not open shown with a green leaf next to it in task managerThis means I don't get emails unless the window is open.I've uninstalled and reinstalled and still getting the same problem. It is allowed to run in the background and is up to date. This is a really annoying problem!

  2. Windows wrongfully suspending Mail app

Is there a way to prevent Windows 10 from suspending apps?

It recently started to suspend the Mail app, and this seems to be preventing it from checking new messages, meaning I no longer get any email notifications unless I manually open the app.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? Or do I just have to leave a window open for Mail at all times from now on?

    Thanks for any help.

Mail app will not open on 10041.

    Hello Adam,

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it. Windows mail app suspends itself - not getting emails unless window is active :)

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

    • Open powershell as administrator
    • Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
    • Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

Windows mail app suspends itself - not getting emails unless window is active

    Windows Mail

Is it possible to set up more than one email account when using Windows Mail? I hate Thunderbird because I could never get more than one email account set up and be able to send mail from both accounts. The outgoing servers kept on getting mixed up.

    Thanks in advance.
