Windows 10: Windows Mail closing searched emails

Every time I use the "search" function in Windows 10 Mail app, it locates the appopriate emails with that key word, but as soon as I click on an of them it sequentially closes it and all the rest of them one by one! It has made it impossible to read any email searched for by a key word. I have tried uninstalling and downloadind the app again with the same issue.

From the description it is understood that you are facing issues with Windows 10 Mail App.



Which email account have you added in the Mail app?

Do you receive any error code or error message when the Mail app closes?



Please try the below methods and check:



Method 1: I would suggest you to run the Windows app troubleshooter and check if the issue can be resolved.

Try these steps to run the troubleshooter:

• Type troubleshooting in the search bar.
• Click view all in the left panel.
• Select ‘Windows store apps' and follow the on-screen instructions.
  

Method 2:

Type in the following commands listed in the table below under the “Remove PowerShell Command” column to remove the app. The app can be reinstalled using the Store App. You will need to exit the Store app if it is already open before reinstalling
the app.

Please follow the steps below to uninstall the apps.



1. Go to the Start menu and do a search for PowerShell, right-click the app from the list, and click Run as administrator.

2. Type these commands to remove Mail and Calendar app.

get-appxpackage *microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps* | remove-appxpackage

Windows 10 search does not search emails.

I would appreciate if you could answer a few questions to narrow down the issue.

• Which email are you using? Is it the email client or the mail app?
• Did you try the same after restarting the computer?
• Did you install any third party Security applications?
• When you say you tried repairing, which repair did you mention? Is it the inbuilt troubleshooter?

I suggest you to run Search and Indexing troubleshooter and check if it helps.

• Type troubleshooting in the search bar.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click Search and Indexing.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.
• Check if issue persists.

If you are using the mail app, I would suggest you to try running Windows store app troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Type troubleshooting in the
  Search area on the taskbar.
  
• 
  Click on Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Click on View all on the left panel of the Troubleshooting Windows.
  
• 
  Select Windows store Apps.
  
• 
  Follow the on screen instruction.

Windows Mail -delete bogus email addresses

We understand the difficulties you are facing in Mail app while adding the email address.
In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

• What is the Version and Build of Windows 10 currently installed? (Type
  winver in Windows search/Run command)
  
• What is the Version of Mail and Calendar app installed?
  

• Are you aware of any changes on the PC prior to this issue?
• Does this happen for all the emails?
• Do you see the unknown email address when typing in the "To" filed or does it add automatically while you send?

The suggestions of email address can be from the emails that you may have received or sent. You may want to search the mailbox if emails from this address exists.

Meanwhile, we would suggest you to perform these steps and check.



Step 1: Run the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter: Select the
Start button, and then select Settings>Update & Security
> Troubleshoot, and then from the list select Windows Store apps > Run the troubleshooter.



Step 2: Reset App

1. Press Windows + I key to open Windows
   Settings.
   
2. Click on Apps and select
   Apps & feature from the left pane.
   
3. Scroll and look for the
   Mail and Calendar app.
   
4. Select the app and click on Advanced option.
   
5. Click on Reset and once you see a tick mark, then relaunch and check.
