Windows 10: Windows Mail Search online results flashing past and disappearing

So this has happened on a couple of machines with different email accounts.A search is performed and after the last 2? months result a link is offered 'search online'. This loads emails from the server but any attempt to click into one starts them all disappearing one by one until the list is empty. So they flash up and disappear.It's difficult to tell but it looks like irrelevant results are loaded as well as search hits but even when you can see search hits highlighted in the sender or subject they still flash up and disappear in the same fashion.Windows and Mail are both the latest versio

Turn Off Web Search Results When Searching My Computer

Hi,

If you are pertaining to the Cortana search web results, you can disable it and improve local search results. Follow the steps below to disable web results:

• Click the search bar.
• Select the Notebook icon on the left pane of the search bar.
• From the options, select Settings. (Note: On the later versions of Windows, the Settings button might be outside the Notebook icon.)
• On the Settings, toggle the Cortana gives me suggestions, ideas, reminders, alerts and more option to
  Off.
• On the lower part, turn off the Search online and included web results option as well.

After doing the steps, try using search again and see if the web results will now disappear.

Cannot paste into Windows Mail

To help you with your concern, we suggest that you follow the steps below on how to clear the clipboard in Windows 10:

• On the search box, kindly type or copy and paste, cmd.exe /c cd 2>"%UserProfile%\empty.txt" & clip < "%UserProfile%\empty.txt".
• Click on cmd.exe /c cd 2>"%UserProfile%\empty.txt" & clip < "%UserProfile%\empty.txt"
  (Run command).
• Try to use the copy and paste function again.

thanks for your suggestion, and no, the windows search index was not the problem. it's the mail app that does not work as expected:

expected behavior:

1. type a keyword
2. return search results containing that keyword

observed behavior:

1. type a keyword
2. no results
3. search online
4. still no results and no error msg
