Windows making pitch of voice lower and volume. Mic is working perfectly on another computer.

This seems to be an uncommon problem, there's a few posts without a fix, or an option in properties that fixes it, however my microphone has never had that option. I didn't change any settings prior and I've also tried changing the sample rates. There doesn't seem to be anything in sound properties that affects it when changed. I was able to get the pitch changed back, no idea what, I did but the volume still stayed low(if I incease the volume in microphone in properties it becomes grainly with a lot of noise since it's not meant to be raised that high), so the underlying problem is still there. I used troubleshoot microphone after and it changed it back to low pitch again, unfortunately I didnt read the logs on what it did since I didnt realize the pitch shifted again until later. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver. Nothing. I've also read that some people reformatted and the problem still presists. I've disabled and enabled, tried different ports.

  2. High pitched squeeking when mic is unmuted?

    It's called feedback.

Turn the MIC volume slider in the windows recording settings all the way down to 0 but DON'T mute the MIC in windows.

Then turn the MIC ON (Un-mute the MIC) on the controller on the cable, and slowly slide the MIC volume slider UP in the windows recording settings until you can hear input from the MIC, but not so high as it begins to squeal again.

If that does not work - try covering the MIC with your hand whilst it is making the squealing noise - if this does change the pitch/tone/volume of the squealing then you are still getting feedback , if the pitch/tone/volume of the squeal remains constant even when covering the MIC with your hand - you may have a broken MIC/MIC Cable/MIC Connectors.

High pitched squeeking when mic is unmuted?

Hello mate, many thanks for the reply.

I know what feedback is, but this is literally constant BEEEEEEEEEEEP when the microphone is plugged in, but non existent when muted. I tried what you said, slowly increasing the mic volume, but anything over 1 and you can hear the beep. So, i guess its a broken jack? Great, just got these from the missus for Xmas.

Adjusting Mic Volume for different programs

Trying to figure this out here. My mic volume has been fine in TS or Skype. But I recently picked up Dxtory and my mic is quiet in there. I have mic volume set to 100 and no Mic boost. I'd rather not use boost, but today I tried it out and it worked fine. Then I realized Dxtory is connected directly to the volume for your mic in Windows. Which is no problem I figured I would just drop down TS and Skypes outbound volume and be fine. Well Skype that works fine with, but it seems I can't in TS. So I'm stuck with 2 programs (TS and Dxtory), both tied to Windows Sound Settings, but one picks up my voice fine and the other picks it up low. I can't think of a way around it, any ideas here?
