Hi,I have a 3rd party program that cannot install as the Windows Management Instrumentation software cannot be accessed,DEVICE INFO: Windows Embedded Standard 6, 4Gb RAM, SP1 installedRunning msinfo32 says Cannot access the WMI software. WM files may be moved or missing.I found the service and ran as admin CMD net stop winmgmt > winmgmt was already stopped on this devicewinmgmt /resetrepository> reported it was resetnet start winmgmt> was unable to start the serviceI then opened services, found it and set it to Start automatically.Now the service canno

Windows Management Instrumentation Software

I received an error message "Cannot access the Windows Management Instrumentation Software. Windows files may be moved or missing". This was after I had tried to download Nikon Studio software from the Nikon website. Nikon support tried various things without success before asking me to run a System Report Summary which caused the above message. They suggested a problem in Windows.

How do I resolve this issue

 

Why does Hyper-V virtualization depend on Windows Management Instrumentation?

In this experiment I disabled and deleted the Windows Management Instrumentation service in Windows 10 Pro 64bit. Do not try with your working PC. Here are the steps::

• Set dependency to only Remote Procedure Call (RPCSS) with reg command
  

For Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management service (vmms):: reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\vmms" /v "DependOnService" /t "REG_MULTI_SZ" /d "RPCSS" /f

For Security Center service (wscsvc):: reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wscsvc" /v "DependOnService" /t "REG_MULTI_SZ" /d "RPCSS" /f

• Delete WMI service:: sc stop "Winmgmt" & sc delete "Winmgmt"
  

Then I restarted PC and the Hyper-V services show this error: Error 0x8007000e: Not enough storage is available to complete this operation.





Question: Why and how does the Hyper-V depend on WMI service?

 

Processor name not showing in System properties window

The WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) Service usually manages the information displayed in the System properties window. It could be possible that the service is not running properly that is the reason the Processor name is not displayed in
the System properties window.



I suggest you to refer the steps mentioned below and check if that helps:

1. Press Windows key + R, to open
   Run dialog box.
   
2. Type services.msc and click on
   OK.
   
3. Scroll down, look for Windows Management Instrumentation service, and check if the service is running.
   
4. If the service is not running then, right click on the service and click on
   Properties.
   
5. Now, select Automatic from the drop down for
   Startup type.
   
6. Click on Start to start the service and click on
   OK.
   
7. Restart the computer.
