  2. Window Media Player creating duplicate songs?

    Hi,

I have Windows Media Player ver. 12.0.7601.24499 running under Win 7 Home Premium on a HP laptop (several years old). I like the player but it seems to create duplicate listings of every song in my album listings...2 no. 1 songs, 2 no. 2 songs, etc..for
every albumsong I have listed for it to play. I've tried deleting the duplicates but when I reopen the player, it just re-creates the duplicates. Any answer for this?

    thanks

    Duplicate songs on my phone

After unsuccessfully trying every other suggested workaround for this issue, the following workaround finally fixed the problem on two wp8 devices for me (Samsung Ativ S and Nokia Lumina 520):

    • On wp8 phone, in “Xbox Music + Videos” app go to Settings and Initially turn off both “Connect with Xbox Music” and “Xbox Music cloud collection” options. You can turn on those two options at end of this procedure if desired wih no negative side effects.
    • Transfer the music files to your phone using “Windows Phone for desktop” app. I copied all the music that I wanted on my phone, which was a combination of DRM-free personally-owned .mp3 files and Xbox Music Pass DRM-protected .wma files (subscription rental
music) to the wp8 phone using ‘Windows Phone for desktop’ app. At the end of this process, I had duplicates (or multiple instances) of almost every song in my library. The next step is the one that fixes the problem.
    • All the credit for this steps go to David at Labs 7: please follow the exact steps on this page:

      http://7labs.heypub.com/mobile/fix-media-library-duplicates-windows-phone-8.html

    • After following those steps, your phone needs some time (based on your library size) to rebuild its music library file, so give it time until your music starts re-appearing in the Xbox Music + Videos app. It took about 1 minute for my 1,800 song library
    • If you wish, now you can turn on both “Connect with Xbox Music” and “Xbox Music cloud collection” options in Settings section in “Xbox Music + Videos” if you’d like to take advantage of those features, I have them both on and there is no duplication as
      the result of it.

Songs and Playlists in Windows Media Player Are Duplicated

THE SONGS ARE DUPLICATED!!! The playlists are only duplicated when I use the desktop app , not windows media player. I have fixed that problem by re-creating the playlists in windows media player.

Also I figured out that the songs were duplicated in windows media player because it some how got my duplicated path of songs on my back up drive. I don't even know how that happened. Since then i have removed that duplicate library from it but now I am
still getting some duplicated songs on my phone and they still show up in Windows media player duplicated.

The playlists will not transfer over to the phone using the 2nd hand generic Windows Phone Desktop App program.

You have to use Windows Media player to get the play lists to transfer. Windows Media player is the only way the play lists can be created now. I have done that , it does not solve the problem. For this reason , the windows phone desktop app is COMPLETELY
USELESS. Do you know someone in the Microsoft design and engineering department????? CAN YOU FREAKING TELL THEM THAT FOR ME AND THE MILLIONS OF USERS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU CANNOT CREATE PLAYLISTS WITH THE WINDOWS PHONE DESKTOP APP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the life of me I cannot understand why Microsoft stock doesn't plummet and go down to zero with products that have degraded due to bad marketing , bad design, and bad management as much as the windows phone has.

I don't even know why after 2 previous phones I have one. I guarantee there will not be a 4TH!

Are you listening Microsoft Exec??? I am one of millions who feel this way!!!
