Windows 10: Windows Media Controls, bluetooth controller forcing windows media controls use

Ever since the last update, I have been unable to use a bluetooth controller normally with my system. Every time I connect it to my machine via bluetooth, the controller works with whatever game I have open at the time, but ALSO changes audio and media playback. if i press up or down on the dpad, the volume changes accordingly. If I have a youtube video open in the background and press left or right on the analog stick, it skips the video to the previous or next one. Even just pressing the start button brings up the task view options. Due to how hard it is to word this problem through search,

Media remote control

microsoft remotes have native support in windows for that. volume control is universal, track skip requires you use media player - or add media button support for itunes, or mediamonkey just turn it on. if the play/pause buttons on a keyboard work, a microsoft remote should work.

 

Xbox 360 controller & Vista ultimate 64bit (Media Center)

I read somewhere that you can control Windows Media Center with an Xbox 360 controller.
Though, I cant seem to do this... and no where in the Media center options does it have anything to do with that controller as a remote.

Have I missed something?

Im running Vista Ultimate 64bit & the controller is an Xbox 360 USB PC version.

 

Programming Keyboard Buttons to Control Media?

I made a post about a week ago with my media Next/Previous Track keys not working in Warcraft 3. They apparently don't work in Starcraft 2 either, so someone suggested to me that I make it where keys like Insert, Home, Pg Up/Down etc control what I need for media player...only, I don't know how to do this. Can anyone offer any assistance?
