Windows 10: Windows Media Corrupted

I've always had problems with windows media player 12 from time to time. Its the best player forqueuing and playing multiple videos in my opinion. Recently its been acting up a lot more than usual. It hasn't opened in days, and when i run a troubleshoot it says library corrupted but it doesn't fix it. Ive tried EVER single method to resolve this problem from deleting local folder, uninstall rebooting,restore point, virus scans , dumping and cleaning my cache, history and even booting up a guess account...nothing. I've search all this forum pages to find a way to downgrade back to wmp 11 that never gave me any prob but its not working. and im not goin to some shady website to download a virus on my cpu.

I've bout $1200 in upgrades in the computer since covid and everything runs smooth and flawless except this...Why can't I be able to completely uninstall this **** from my computer and do a fresh install with this or a previous version. Its not like I want to use another program , I can just download any other player but I want to use yours but your too stubborn to listen to people over ten years now that want wmp 11 back.

Its there any other option to fixing this besides my last option reinstalling window? Which don't want to cause my pc running better now than ever, don't want to mess that up cause Microsoft is forcing this **** version of media playing down our throat.

nb: It may be to do with your zip code and or post code not being entered

In regard to your DVD Rom drive - go to -control panel/device manager/DVD/CD-ROM drives -make a note of the make and model number Example: Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-215D ATA Device - highlight the device you have installed -press right mouse button-select properties-details-property and select Install Date from the drop down list and let us know this.

Corrupt media plyer library

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

The error ‘Media library is corrupt’ occurs when the Windows Media Player library database has become corrupted.

To resolve this problem, clear the Windows Media Player database. To do this, follow these steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + R, click
  Run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click
  OK.
  
• 
  Select all the files in the folder, and then click
  Delete on the File menu.
  

Note: You do not have to delete the folders that are in this folder.

Restart Windows Media Player.

If this does not resolve the problem, clear the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + R, click
  Run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft, and then click
  OK.
  
• 
  Select the Media Player folder, and then click
  Delete on the File menu.
  
• 
  Restart Windows Media Player.
  

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

New Windows Media Player Plugin for Firefox

Anyone who uses Windows Vista and Mozilla Firefox may be pleased to hear that the Windows Media Player team has now released a plugin for Firefox that should allow the browser to play WMP content on websites. Here are the steps to get it working:

• Installation of the Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin may require administrative access to your PC. It is recommended that you close all other open browser windows before continuing with the installation.
• Click the Install button to automatically download and install the Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin.
• Depending on your security settings, you may see a Security Warning dialog box. Click Install to install the plugin.

There is a known issue if you are using Firefox version 2.0.0.3 on Windows Vista with the installer failing with error code -203. To work around this simply restart Firefox (you will get a notification that Windows Vista will be changing the Firefox compatibility settings) and then install again - the second time should succeed.

The download is available here, and the new plugin works on all versions of Windows XP and Windows Vista (although it is mostly intended for Vista, as that currently has no WMP support in Firefox).
